Is there still that candy brand name in England? (Good News)
You know, from the Savoy Truffle tune????

I haven't seen these chocs on sale since the very early 70s. The only clear memory I have of them is buying a box for my mum when she was in hospital! Alas, not even being mentioned in a Beatles song saved Good News from market forces...

I looked it up on Google and it was MacIntosh's Good News...

I'm still looking for availability. Wouldn't that be sweet? :)

All I can gather is that production of the Good News assortment began in 1960. I'd be very surprised if it's still being made, and even if it was it probably wouldn't contain the same types of chocolates. Last Christmas I was appalled to discover that Cadbury's Roses, which remained virtually unchanged throughout the 60s and 70s, now contains very few of the original flavours. Why do manufacturers mess about with sweets like this? *shakes fist at confectionary industry*

I think this is yet another example of otherwise forgotten bits of the past being preserved in Beatles songs - who'd remember the sitcom "Meet the Wife" if it wasn't mentioned in "Good Morning Good Morning"?!

as far as I know, Montelimart is a nougat ( almond and honey). In spain is very common at christmas under the denomination " Turron de Alicante" ( the hard one, the soft one is called Jijona)
