Has anyone ever heard of the Rutles? For the people who haven't...

The Rutles were Dirk McQuickly (Paul McCartney). Ron Nasty (John Lennon), Barry Wom (Ringo Starr), and Stig O Hara (George Harrison). They were a legend. A living legend. A legend that will continue after other legends have died down. A legend that will last a lunchtime.

The idea for the Rutles came from Eric Idle (Monty Python) and the songs were written by Neil Innes (Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band).

The TV film they made was, 'All You Need Is Cash'. (Which I have)

They also made an album. (Which I also have)

Has anyone else heard or seen them? Perhaps we could start up a Rutle forum?

The Rutles have two cd's out.The first being "The Rutles" with a great orange and yellow Capital swirl. The songs ma at first sound dorky, but are really good. Many very similar sounding melodies.listen to "Ouch!','Doubleback Alley','Piggy In The Middle',and 'Get Up And Go".
It was rumored that John actully sang the lead on " Cheese and Onions".Their 2nd cd (with a back cover showing the lower sections of only 3 Rutles)is entitled,"Archaeology" Really good stuff.

Harb, I saw it, and couldn't really stand it - the film, that is.
Monty Python was ok, but give me the Goons any day.

I kinda like it. You can hear the satire in the songs, namely "Hold My Hand", "With A Girl Like You", "OUCH!", and Let's Be Natural". Some of the names they had for their albums was rather humorous.

Not only did Eric Idle play Dirk McQuickly, he also played Krammerhead III, Jnr. and was even the narrator in the film. George Harrison also made a cameo appearance as an interviewer.
