Too many lines will win you a one way trip to Betty Ford.http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

Betty Ford. Former First Lady (Gerald Ford's wife) who founded a high profile rehab clinic in California. It's where the stars go to quit their addictions.

Rumor has it that Keith Richards just checked out of Betty Ford's clinic.

Gimme a break! I was merely falling asleep!!!! The only coke I like must be accompanied by a nice double Irish Whiskey, and come in a rather attractively shaped bottle, not unlike the curvature associated with Marilyn Monroe! (or indeed my fair and buxom self!!)

All riiiggghhttty then! I'll just have a Crown & water, double please, on the rocks, in whatever clean beverage container you have handy http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

No, I can't have a drink as I'm driving. Oh, go on then, I'll have a double whiskey.

This was for laughs only, I am not promoting drink-driving in any way. Only sad fools with no lives drink-drive.

Nuff said.

Honestly folks, how can you possibly consider the idea that anyone on this forum would condone drink-driving, you only have to look at the mess a coke makes of your upholstery to see that it is not such a good idea, I mean you just CANNOT balance a Jameson & Coke whilst manouvering a sharp bend!

Just joshing, I am an Insurance Broker, need I say more?

Drinking and driving? I do it all the time on the golf course. You should my slice and hook. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

Seriously, I do not condone it either. Sleepy knows what she's talking about. She should, she's a bartender!!!

One should always drink responsibly. No more than 1 alcoholic beverage per hour, wait at least 1 hour after the last drink before attempting to drive, never drink on an empty stomach, and keep cab money or emergency phone number handy for the times you simply are too knocked to navigate.

(Better yet, go out in a group with a designated driver, or stay at home to drink...)

I'm a golf widow, so I really enjoyed the drinking & "driving" comment. Cute!

Original Fan, you are as much a "golf widow" as Sleepy is a "football widow". Now that the NFL is starting up, she'll lose me to the game on the TV.

Orig, you're the one who said it - "golf widow"
What's it supposed to mean?

Yo, Colin, at certain times of the year, we long-suffering wives have to attend every function alone, we have to make dinner plans for one, and we scrounge together with other wives in similar boats to have a marathon video watch of all the wonderful Monday night movies and other programming we've missed due to annual sporting events such as Football Season, Fishing Season, Golf Tournaments, Baseball Season, Basketball Season, Hunting Season, Bowling Season, etc.

For all familial intents and purposes, our usually loving significant others are glued to the telly, or they're actually physically involved with the Season(s) of their choice... In other words, during those seasons, we have no husband to speak of!! Ergo, "widows"... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/cry.gif

Being a golf widow isn't so bad anymore. My children are grown, so I no longer bear any resentment about being left alone to care for 2 normal, healthy, vivacious little boys on my own. And I've become a pro at heaping guilt on my "duffer," which has, in turn, afforded me many, many delicious meals at lovely restaurants on Saturday nights! S.H. understands this dilemma perfectly; hope you do, too, Len-Mc! It DOES get easier with time...
