Paul's my favourite. He's such a down to earth sort of chap. I think John was a little arrogant and let fame and fortune go to his head a little. George lost all power of emotional expression around 1966, and Ringo buggered off to live in America.

You certainly like watching your films don't you? Do you watch them one at a time or all together at once?

Looks aren't very important to me, Lil. I prefer John because I think he was the creative force behind the whole operation, and was the only Beatle truly deserving of the title of 'genius.'

YEAH. My sister's favorite is john. Were twins but we are so different. she sould have been born in the 60s. she has the bell bottoms and the john lennon glasses. Shes a pacafist and hates confrontations. Shes into the whole peace thing. John is a close second because hes so cool.

Don't know what you mean about John being the major, or singular creative force behid the beatles. Take away Paul and you've got half of abbey road, no pepper, no magical mystery, etc. They were both responsible!
And yeah, John was a genius. But if John was, then Paul must be too.

Don't get me wrong, I'm crazy about Paul. I do not give out the title of genius easily. While he was an extremely talented musician and lyricist, I do not believe that he wrote his songs as introspectively as John did. For instance, Paul tended to write love songs, which is fine. But it isn't very daring or self examining. I think that John tried to include meaning in his lyrics, and even occasionally included evidence of a self revalation. For Paul, songs were something to sing, and have fun with. For John, they broadcasted a mood, a thought, or evidence of finding himself. This is why I would attribute the title to John and not Paul.

Thereby defying the definition of genius.
Generally speaking they wrote how you said, John introspectively, and Paul - not so introspectively.
However, Cezanne had a habit of painting bits of fruit - so what? You know?
John and Paul became what they became because of each other.

And there you've hit the needle on the head, Lilly...
THAT is why the Beatles broke up, because John and Paul had already broke up. A career takes just as much effort as a relationship, and most of us learn that the most lasting relationships are 100/100. That is, each side gives 100%, and doesn't dare assume the other side is going to give as well. But as soon as one side starts giving less (by giving more to a third party, such as a Linda, or a Yoko, or a religion...), the relationship is doomed.
Sometimes, the 2 sides just start giving less without actually giving more somewhere else. That's when boredom or restlessness has set in, and the relationship is no longer satisfying. More mature folks see the danger signs, and if they value the relationship, they start giving again.
But the Beatles were the prime example of childhood sweethearts who marry, burn brightly for awhile and a decade or so later wonder what they missed by going down this particular road. Some start thinking what's down that road is more interesting than what is on their own, and they travel in ever-increasing distances away from each other.
Whether Linda, Yoko, and religion were at the head of those roads, or just a major attraction down them, we'll probably never know.

For the longest time it was
JOHN LENNON AND PAUL MCCARTNEY
And then after a while it became
JOHN LENNON AND YOKO ONO
I guess paul just couldnt handle it.
They needed each other and the group couldnt last when the two songwriters thought they needed their wives more.
DID THAT SOUND STUPID?

lol john would have said its not john and yoko its johnandyoko! get that straight!! he wrote that in a letter to john and linda. Anyways, I don't think it was that they wanted their wives more, its more of a "we've grown up and its time to move on" type of thing. They each wanted to do their own music. And i think the reason it took so long for them to disband is 'cause John felt guilty. he said that when he released give peace a chance, he felt guilty and added pauls name on it, but he had nothing to do with the song.
