I'm a massive Beatles fan and I would like to talk to other avid Beatles fans. So I was wondering whether anyone lives in Torbay, Devon, England so that we could have a good old chin-wag.

Are you all aware of the fact that we (euros) feel a little outnumbered by the number of American (and I mean the continent, including Canada) fans there are?
We love you all heaps though, your enthusiasm puts most of us to shame.

Does anyone else think that in a way, America 'stole' the Beatles from Britain? I'm not being horrible in any way and I love America from what I've seen of it, but it's just that American females seemed a bit soppy towards them. They painted pictures of them, wrote them poems and songs, and cried whenever they couldn't get as near to them as they wanted to. There's a classic example on the video, 'The Compleat Beatles', where there's a girl crying because the policemen kept pushing her away from the Beatles. Well it's her type that calls the need for the police to be there in the first place! That's my little moan over. Sorry if I've offended anyone, but I believe in free speech, but not too free.

I know exactly what you mean, but remember, the girls in the Cavern felt the same about Britain when the boys first made it big, and perhaps we are just a little jealous too. What I meant was that there seem to be so many Beatles Fans from America, nearly all of the web-sites I visit are American, and some of the best conventions are held in America, what I really mean is that I wish that we Europeans were as well organised.
But yes, I do feel that America stole The Beatles, can we please have our band back?!!!

Remember, North America is bigger than England, so it makes sense that there are more fans.

Just slightly!
I think Central Park is bigger than England. Though I could be wrong.

You Beatles scholars must have read how important it was to the group to achieve success in the U.S. They knew that if they made it here, they were for real. They were thrilled at how they were greeted when they arrived in Feb. of '64. As for "stealing" them: I will never forget the huge sign which hung in the airport as the Beatles landed in England after leaving America. It read: "Welcome HOME, Boys!" I was miffed, to say the least. I felt as if their origin was being rubbed in our faces, but we had no defense. They were England's pride & joy, and we knew it.
