View Full Version : Questions for parents who are Beatles fans

Do your children listen to The Beatles? Have they ever? Do they listen to The Beatles even if you are not around?

I have an 8-year-old and a soon to be 6-year-old. The older child insists that she does not like The Beatles, yet every time we go someplace she asks me to play a Beatles tape, usually requesting a specific song or album.

The younger, on the other hand, is well on his way to becoming a Beatlemaniac in his own rights. He regularly sings his favorite Beatles songs while playing, watching TV, or doing practically anything - and he knows all of the lyrics to the songs he does sing.

This is one legacy that I will leave - when they are in their 70's and they hear a song that was recorded 100 years earlier, they will remember their dad.

no,i don't have any children yet, but when we do, i will definetly "expose" them to their music!! people of all ages still find their music unlike any other bands around! i wasn't around for the beatles, but that doesn't mean i don't love them any less. i'm sure your kids will appreciate what you have left them!

I have three daughters that love the Beatles. They'll sing along when I play a song or it's heard on the radio. They have gotten to the point that they can name which Beatle is singing.
My 10 yr. old loves to watch "Help!" The middle daughter clowns around like the Fab Four did in "A Hard Day's Night." She is in love with Ringo and wants to marry him. The youngest, who is 5, can't get enough of "Yellow Submarine."
Someday when I'm gone they will have to decide who gets what from my collection of LPs, CDs, singles, cassettes, 8-tracks (Yes, they still play http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif), books, T-shirts and other memorabilia I've scooped up over the years.
My collection is a treasure chest of memories and material that some people just can't believe. People try to tell me I'm wasting my time and money; but I know better. The Beatles legacy will live on even after our children's children.

I am the proud mother of 2 adult sons. They have never known life without Beatles music, thanks to me. One of the nicest compliments I've ever received from them is when they thanked me for exposing them to such great music since they were in the womb. They, too, are avid Beatles fans and never tire of listening to their songs. If I leave them nothing else when I pass on, I know their love of music will be enough of an "inheritance."

You know, everyone else was talking so beautifully about music and the beatles until Colin had to throw in something juvenile. And naturally Jerry had to follow his lead. I guess I should have expected this from you, just not in front of 52 strangers. But if you're willing to insult me at the Guitar Center then why not on-line?

Again, Thanks.

I see now. And the 100 posts about my old age didn't bother me at all either.

Thanks Sleepyhead. You're right, boys will be boys, but since Jerry is getting up there in age I should expect a little more from him. You know, some maturity to come with his old age. Jerry, in our society we excuse the elderly for saying things like that... I guess you're finally in their league. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

I accept your apology Col, but I'm not sure what you're apologizing for... it's Jerry I'll never forgive!

I apologised because you seemed upset and maybe mad. And I've before whitnessed the actions of angry and upset women!!!!!
And because I was immature, but it was Jerry, he led me astray he did!

Sure, sure, blame it on him! You're wise to apologize to any woman... maybe you could teach Jerry that one!

By the way shouldn't you be sleeping? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif It's 11:30 already!

Careful, there, LenMac...you are developing a very nasty habit sleeping in! I started sleeping in years ago, and finally had to start working nights so my mom wouldn't have a legitimate reason to wake me up earlier than noon, LOL!

People really sleep that long? Maybe there is something wrong with me. I only get about 5 1/2- 6 hrs. a night...I wake up at 6:30 every morning.

Yes, Penny! I sleep kinda late, but maybe that's because I stay up too late at night. I try to get up some-what early to go jogging, though. It's hard to get up early, but I suppose I should start getting used to it before school starts again!
