Yes we have done this before but there are new members, opinions may have changed, and there are plenty of other things one does more than once, so;

What is/are for you the best contributions George made on other artists songs.

I'd say

'Edward' by Nickey Hopkins - guitar
'Leave A Light On' by Belinda Carlisle - slide guitar solo

to start with

at the moment, I'd pick <<It don't come easy>>, by Richard Starkey

His guitar work on John's "Crippled Inside" makes the song.

I think George sang "It Don't Come Easy" better than Ringo ever did, even if it WAS the latter's signature song.

Some other George covers that would work :

4 & 20 by CSNY
Circle Game - Joni Mitchell
All My Life's a Circle - Chapin

A lot of people don't know that George played guitar on Cheech & Chong's "Basketball Jones."

I love his solo on John s How do you sleep .
And he did a beautiful solo on Ringo s King of broken hearts .

Oh , and his solo on Day after day by Badfinger is awesome too !!!

Wouldn't that be Photograph?

How Do You Sleep I believe is quite involved by George's guitar work which gives the song even more 'feeling' as to what it was about.

A Wilbury song is not what this topic is about, as beautiful as the song is.

There was no need for that?

The ones you mentioned like King Of Broken Hearts and Distance Makes No Difference With Love are excellent examples.

No problem, really, and it saved me from starting another useless thread...

P.S.: And, come to think of it, those two songs are pretty lame as well...

His Guitar work on "Back Off Boogaloo" is very uplifting.

As also his Cow Bell part on Harry Nilson's "Daybreak" :teeth1:

His slide work on John's Gimme Some Truth is probably among my very favorites.

Here is a song by Peter Skellern called "Make Love, Not War" which has George doing some mighty fine slide guitar work.

The Links of Peter to George;

This song comes from Peter's LP Hard Times, Sept. 1975.

Hard Times - the song - is covered by Ringo on Bad Boy

Derek Taylor produced Peter's 2nd album.

Peter covered various Hoagy Carmichael songs.

George said this of Peter Skellern " I think out of the English people I've heard so far, the best...is Peter Skellern. He reminds me of Harry Nilsson, full of potential" Melody Maker 6/9/1975.

Thanks Wim

Nah i think it was It dont come easy - theres a version of George singing it. never heard George do a full version of photograph..would like too..

As for George on other's songs theres so many good ones.. Difference makes no difference as was mentioned, especially as George does some great backing vocals on it.."day after day" by Badfinger and Spooky Tooth's "two faced man" on Dick cavett are great slide examples from George.. "Under the Red Sky" By Bob is a song ive always loved from 1990, again some great slide from George and good to hear him playing with Bob..

Probably of my all time favourites though is Ravi Shankar's Prabhujee from 1997's Chants on India..just glorious...George produces, plays acoustic guitar and sings background vocals and some other instruments on this one

the solo on Bill Wyman's Love Letters also deserves special mention, short but sweet, one of his last..

It's the week of "FP explaining his postings" :teeth1:

What I mean is Ringo's signature song. I bel;ieve that would be "Photograph".
