To mark my return to the links ( a sad a dark day for all, I'm sure), I'll start with this for a trifle.
I was listening to "Sure to Fall" from one of the BBC Anthology discs, and was reminded of a comment shared between Ono and I that the Fabs would have made a good country band at times.I mean, if someones gotta play country, let it be the Beatles, at least!! images/icons/wink.gif
So it got me thinking...if you were gonna burn a CD with their most 'country-ish' tunes, what would they be? Mind you, this being the boot forum, this can come from ANY source. So what do you think?
And I, for one, would like to welcome that wonderful joelcrowservo back to the fold. What a nice lad. graemlins/images/icons/rolleyes.gif

Well, I certainly want to welcome you back. The 'country' songs that come to my mind are
'I've Just Seen A Face' and 'Honey Don't'.

Hey, there!

I thought "What Goes On" was Western-y.

I Don't Wanna Spoil the Party sounds country to me, Act Naturally..
Lots of songs with Ringo's voice actually, haha.

I would also like to welcome that "nice" images/icons/wink.gif lad calling himself joelcrowservo back to links, and to the bootleg network.
Now what kind of outtakes would fit, I think Goodbey could pass for a country song.

The song that is the most country of course would be Don't Pass Me By

Welcome, Joel (for sure)! images/icons/smile.gif

One could easily form a CD filled with country songs, including the aforementioned:

Sure To Fall (In Love With You)
I've Just Seen A Face
Honey Don't
What Goes On
I Don't Want To Spoil The Party
Act Naturally
Goodbye
Don't Pass Me By

Some others that I can think about:

Typical country:

Rocky Raccoon
Beacoups Of Blues (pick one of the 12 tunes!)
Coochy Coochy
$15 Draw
Sunshine Life For Me (Sail Away Raymond) (??)
Cryin' (or its clone song, one outtake of Vertical Man whose name escapes me now... )
Sure To Fall (In Love With You) (Ringo's version from Stop And Smell The Roses)
Sally G
Send Me The Heart (a Denny Laine-penned Wings outtake)

Others with country music, but not necessarily country:
Life Begins At 40 (it has a country feel to it, doesn't it)
The Luck Of The Irish or John Sinclair (ditto)
I Live For You or Don't Let Me Wait Too Long

Nah... couldn't find a better final for the list. Feel free to reject some songs and add more! images/icons/wink.gif

Did I mention "welcome, joelcrowservo" before? images/icons/wink.gif

You know, I first thought of "Dont Pass Me by" too, but its kinda Bizarro country, whuch I guess a lot of the White Album is Bizarro rock!
Hadnt thought of Crippled Inside, but there you go.
I'll give it another day or so, and then start compiling the CD, and let you know how it sounds. It could be a real mish-mash, who knows!
And again, thanks for the cards and the letters welcoming me back. At least no ones said "get back out now!" images/icons/wink.gif

You could also include Paul doing Blue Moon of Kentucky or Midnight Special (or are those more rockabilly?).

I love psuedo-country like that. It's got the twang without sounding lame.

Well, Bill Monroe wrote Blue Moon, so you cant get much more country!
I recall now which songs we were initially talking about; it was from the "get back" sessions: "Wont You Please Say Goodbye" and those songs that are all together on there, especially "I'll Wait Til Tomorrow".
Man, but I cannot get sure to fall outta my head now! I feel a Bootleg review coming on...
