Did anyone else start collecting the Beatles Complete series on Secret Trax / Silent Sea? I thought I had found the bootleg series that had solved the problem of tracking down the various bootleg tracks. The series seems to have fizzled out after only 10 discs that covered everything on boot from July 6 1957 to July 10 1963, do you think that the people behind the discs just gave up on a task that was to big? Those lables are still putting out various album/radio/live concert collections. Those 5 double cd`s are the most played in my boot collection, can anyone shed any light on this series and has any other lable ever attempted such a giant task?

Welcom Terivision and thanks for posting in the Bootleg Network here at Beatlelinks!

I'm only slightly familiar with the Beatles Complete series from this great publisher. I'm more familiar with the double (or in one case, quadruple) sets they've put out for each era of the Beatles. Like Please Me Do, Songs for Eleanor, The Last Year, etc. I think these are great sets for even the established collector.

What exactly does the Beatles Complete cover from 1957-63 that's new? Or is it just for the sound quality improvements?

I dont think that there was anything new, the idea was to present everything that has ever appeared on bootleg - studio sessions/TV & radio appearances (when live)/demos & concert recordings plus all the official released tracks in Mono & Stereo & all other variant mixes, all in chronological order & taken from the best sources. So the first 2 disc set started off with The Quarrymen live recording of Putting On The Style from July 6 1957, followed by That`ll Be The Day & In Spite of All The Danger from 1958, moving on to Paul`s home recordings from 1960 (Wildcat, Cayenne & about 22 others), then the Tony Sheridan Hamburg stuff & so on. I have five 2 disc sets, the tenth disc ending on the Pop Go The Beatles broadcast from July 10 1963.
I think it was to big a task to take on, who knows how many dozens of discs it would have taken to complete the job. Would have looked nice on the shelf though!

Thanks for the welcome, I have been lurking for many months.

It sounds like Artifacts. That's a great set. So is Mythology cuz it incorporates interviews.

Silent Sea's Complete Home Recordings is my new fave multi-disc set.
