Since volume 2 already has been discused, it's time to put volume 1 in the spot light.Songs 1 to 8 are studio outtakes from the "Red Rose Speedway" sessions, March - December 1972. The rest is from Wings concert at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne at the University's Havelock Hall, February the 13th 1972.
The Tracklist:
1. Big Barn Bed (McCartney)
This is a great version, tho close to the offical version. The instruments sounds more clearer, guitars more puncier/rockier, the piano also mixed more up front. Very great version, more enjoable then the official one.
2. The Mess (McCartney)
The studio version of this song, which makes this cd very worth while. Steady rock song, great combination with heavy guitars, piano's pounding away. The end is beautiful, with some whining guitars.I like this one even better then the live version.
3. When The Night(McCartney)
Is this on "Red Rose Speedway"?Yes it is but that version never made such an impact on me. The "Red Rose" version is to laid back. I prefer this version, with more heavy instruments, also Linda's backing vocals sounds more upfront and beautiful.A beautiful song on this bootleg, a forgetable song on "Red Rose Speedway".
4. Single Pigeon (McCartney)
A nice piano based song. Not to much diferent from the version on "Red Rose"
5. Thank You Darling (McCartney)
6. Mary Had A Little Lamb (McCartney/McCartney)
7. Loup (1st Indian On The Moon) (McCartney)
5 to 6 are the weak spot on this bootleg for me, they even included an outtake of "Mary Had A little Lamb"!
8. Tragedy (Nelson/Burch)
A more well known song for bootleg colectors, not any different then what I heard before on bootlegs like Cold Cuts, but this was one first bootlegs on which this song was included.
9. Seaside Woman (McCartney)
10. Wild Life (McCartney/McCartney)
11. Little Woman Love/C.Moon (McCartney/McCartney)
12. Maybe I'm Amazed (McCartney)
13. My Love (McCartney/McCartney)
14. Live And Let Die (McCartney)
15. Go Now
9- 15
Some good live versions, and a good adition regarding the early live Wings material.
The sound quality is very good, some surpiour versions of the Red Rose Speedway album and the studio version of "The Mess" makes this a worhtwhile bootleg.

I must admit, I've never heard Red Rose Speedway. I never got this boot because I didn't know the songs, and now I'll not get it because it doesn't sound like I'm missing much images/icons/smile.gif .
Thanks for the review, Legs!
P.S. I can't reach your tradelist...over bandwidth limit or something maybe?

Actually, this makes me very interested in this boot! I havent heard "RRS" either, not too familiar with it, but I enjoy going this ass backwards way. hearing the outtakes and THEN getting the 'final' versions. Thanks mucho, Legs.

totally unrelated to this bootleg, but your inbox is full once again...so i'll just write it here:
hi! i'm listening to Big Boys Bickering right now. fucking fantastic! oh. images/icons/wink.gif read this about that song:
"I think it was my first protest song since 'Give Ireland
Back To The Irish'. I've avoided them, thinking, This is for
the politicians, or sometimes, I can say it in interviews. You
have to be very incensed to find the inspiration to do it
right. I think there's a bit of John Lennon inspiration in this
one. It's Lennonesque to my mind anyway. John wouldn't have
thought twice about saying 'fuck' in a song." (Paul McCartney,
1993)
thanks again!

OK, I gotta respond with something more than smilies, right?
Here in Chile is quite hard to get bootlegs, because bootleggers have to import stuff and those imports are very expensive, when you can find them (now that I'm writing this I think about the free commerce agreement we just signed with the European Union and with the United States and I think some things in that field could change soon!).
So the only way to get bootlegs or rare songs is from P2P sites or Internet users. Which is a good way, you get a lot of stuff, but most of the times you don't have any idea of where does it come from. And when there are two or three versions of the songs, you can't even recognize them!
For instance, I would love to hear a second version of "Tragedy", a song which I love, and which I found through Audiogalaxy ages ago... but how would I know which one is the second one? images/icons/grin.gif
This bootleg, by the way, looks very interesting. Would love to hear a quality version of the 'studio' "Mess".

darkhorse, if you're interested in collecting more non-mp3 sourced bootlegs, basically for free, may i suggest you join the yahoo beatlegsweed group. you get a bootleg from someone and you pass it on to 3 or 5 other people. i know i've sent discs to south america before. there's people all over the world involved in the project. here's a link:

I said I will look it up, so I bought the 12" version of it today. You know big black vinyl, comes in a white sleeve with only a sticker which reads.
Featuring the Steve Anderson remixes of hope of Deliverance
So Ono, if you're still here, it took awhile but there is your answer.
