OK..you are in command of Apple, and you must compile a best of the Get Back sessions CD. What do you choose? In other words, what are your favorite tracks from these sessions? It can be anything, since theres a lot of 'anything' recorded during Jan. 1969! My personal picks, keeping in mind I havent heard everything out there...
"Geh Raus"-Paul singing in Psuedo German and French. I believe its the take before the single version.
"Love Me Do'-Sure its a goof, but good fun!
"Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da"- Surely features THE comment on the sessions from Mr. Lennon:(sings)"and when you hit me I believe youre in the band".
"I'll Wait Til Tommorrow/Wont You Please Say Goodbye"-Two oldies from Lennon and Maccas lost songbook. Could the Beatles have been a good C&W band?
"Maybe Baby"-John forgets some words (as always) but its damn nice, showing the Fabs love and respect for Buddy Holly.
"House of the Rising Sun"- a hillarious disaster!
"Get Back" (Jan 10)-John and Paul sing it together. Brytal and superior to the single, until it breaks down and Paul as usual screws up what could have been cool.
"Watching Rainbows"-just an improv, but I like the melody, and the idea of sitting in an English garden just watching rainbows...
"You Really Got A Hold On Me"- After John finally gets it right, its very cool.
"School Day"-More forgotten words, but the Fabs have fun!
"Stand By Me"-Actually close to Johns version, with some great Billy Preston keyboards.
"Three Cool Cats"-(Jan.29) An interesting reading of this one, better than the one in the old days!
"Miss Ann/Lawdy Miss Clawdy/Kansas City/Rip It Up/Blue Suede Shoes"- If this stuff was mixed well, it would be perfect for a CD. As it is, I love hearing the boys do 50s classics anyway.
"I'm So Tired"-Paul (sort of) sings Johns song from the white album. Lots of wholesome drug references!
Okay, I know I forgot some, but its your turn anyway!

George's songs.
To name one, "All Things Must Pass" there are some nice complete versions around.

"Love Me Do" is nice to hear.

Some wonderfull rehearsals for "Two Of Us", again there are some great complete good versions around.

The long version of "I Want You".

There is some more but I just can't wade my way through the Get Back sessions.

Man, this list could go on for a long long time. I don't remember what's on Anthology 3, but just off the top of my head, a few more...

Across The Universe - Like the brief clip in the movie, they did a few nice and slow versions of this one, with a cool Paul harmony throughout.
Two Of Us - Again like the clip in the movie, this one was nice and fast with electric guitars, and there are plenty of good versions.
I Me Mine - This song was finished with a nice flamenco style, but it was left off the Get Back LP, and then re-recorded as more of a rock song for the Let It Be LP.

oh dear god, what a thread! here's some i hold dear to my heart:

* there you go eddie--don't know why, but paul and john seem so great here

* three cool cats--the best cover song they did during the sessions.

* besame mucho--paul at the opera

* love me do--duh

* i'm so tired--paul vocal. duh.

* obladi--cuz john's making fun of it right after paul did i'm so tired.

* actually, i'd include every one of their old songs

*Miss Ann/Lawdy Miss Clawdy/Kansas City/Rip It Up/Blue Suede Shoes--oh, yes.

* Geh Raus--i'd had this for a while and it was always my fave version of get back images/icons/smile.gif

* I'll Wait Til Tommorrow/Wont You Please Say Goodbye--i totally agree with joel.

* she came in through...--from the anthology.

* all things must pass--a version with organ and falsetto voices. i also heard an interesting one with hand claps. [i think this could have made a great beatles song with everyone involved. only problem is george woudl have outshined lennon/mccartney!]

* commonwealth--hey, you said I was in charge of apple, tee hee

* no pakistanis--(see above)

* on the road to marakesh--you know why

* two of us--elvis version

* i me mine--short flamenco version

what a fun project this would be. i'll probably add more later...
