Was just wondering what you guys think of it? I've done it a few times at parties, but find no real desire for it in my daily life.

Sorry if this topic is taboo, please close if it's not allowed!

Me personally, I can't stand to be around it because I can't take the smell. I have friends who smoke and they enjoy it, and that's ok by me, as long as it's not around me so I don't have to smell it!

I've been around it at concerts (The Who and Def Leppard to be exact), and I hate the smell. I had a dream a month ago that I was smoking it with the cast of That 70s Show! :laugh5: I've been tempted to try it, but, in the end, I'll pass.

Personally I don't care if people use, I just hope they don't drive after using, use it but be safe....

I agree with you on that. That's really how I feel about everything. If you're not harming others, then no one has a right to tell you what you should and shouldn't do. I do use but I've never been in such a state where I didn't realize driving like that is a really bad idea. Congas and free food usually sound like a better idea anyways.

I used to smoke everyday for over a year. I loved it at the time, but after awhile it started to get old. But I'm always around people who smoke, it doesn't bother me at all, except when they tell me the same stories over and over again, haha.

I myself have never smoked anything besides tobacco but I'm very interested in smoking marijuana. I was raised in a strict home under the American Christian tradition where "drugs" and alcohol use are forbidden and sinful, but tobacco use was okay

In more recent years, after I started thinking for myself, I came to the conclusion that recreational use of MJ is probably no different that recreational alcohol consumption and should be legalized and taxed like tobacco and alcohol.

As one who has chosen to follow Jesus and the teachings of the New Testament, I believe it is wrong for me to disobey the laws of the land as long as those laws do not cause me to sin. I'm patiently waiting for MJ to be legalized so I can finally see why Paul "had to get it into his life!" lol :laugh5:

That's refreshing that you're interested but want to wait until it's legal! I've never had an interest in trying any drugs, but I especially have not considered them since they are illegal.

I've never smoked anything, but I have no problem with people smoking pot. Heck, if I did, I probably wouldn't have half my friends! And when I got my master's in library science I discovered that practically all the students had at least tried it.

I do have to admit, Sgt.Pepper album sounded amazing while I was high!
I don't like people who embrace it too much either. Like researching it and talking about it all the time, or putting "4:20" on everything. Stupid teenagers!

I've smoked lots of pot in my day..... mostly for enhanced music listening sessions. I figured out more guitar parts while stoned than I could have without it - no joke!

But those days are over. I don't really have too much desire to smoke it anymore. I'd feel like I were taking a step back, in some ways, if I did smoke it again.

Plus the pot these days is industrial strength. I think if I took two hits I'd be on the 3rd ring of Saturn or something. I'm a mechanical moron, but I could make a smoking device out of anything--the 'McGyver Smoker'.

From "Half Baked":

McGayver Friend: Hey, man, we're out of papers.
McGayver Smoker: All right. Then get me a toilet paper roll, a corkscrew and some tin foil.
McGayver Friend: We don't have a corkscrew.
McGayver Smoker: All right. Then get me an avocado, an ice pick and my snorkel.

I did it in high school but it was common on those days. I never really liked it that much. Didn't like the cotton mouth effect. :laugh5: My poison of preference was always alcohol. :beer2: :laugh5:

I honestly don't know why it's not legal when it's not any more harmful than legal drugs like nicotine or alcohol. It would also create more jobs. A win/win situation. :laugh5:

well i certainly do not believe that a person should be locked up with rapists and murderers because they were caught with the stuff.
i actually think that sometime in the future 'we' will look back at the archaic laws surrounding cannabis and think how stupid they were.

personally i wish that there was no alcohol in the world and that people who wished to alter their reality for a while smoked cannabis instead. i realize that can never happen of course.

i'm just sick and tired of hearing on the news that yet another drink-driving death, or that some alcohol related violence has occured.
apart from religion, alcohol is responsible for more pain, suffering and death than anything else. [all this is another subject]. in my experience people, well men really, simply do not get violent on dope, the complete opposite occurs.

i think it is great that cannabis can help out some people that are very ill too.

i think it should be legalized, and i think it would be a good idea if the government controlled the quality of it too. there are some strains of it that are far too strong.
of course the government could make a hell of a lot of money from it too.

it is great for enhancing certain experiences in life.

Glad to see that there are so many open-minded people here!

In L.A., it's practically legal already! (For now, at least...) I'm all for it (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/01/stiletto-stoners-successf_n_306773.html). :smoking2:

All you youngins who haven't tried it... well, IF you're going to try alcohol, then I suggest you try pot instead. It's muuuuuuch better... no one really gets aggressive or sick. And it heightens all your senses... not just for music (as several people ahead of me have posted), but for other things as well! <wink, wink>

I was a pothead years ago... I'm not bothered by it at all. Love the smell and the taste... but having a baby doesn't allow for any pot time. If I end up on a night off with buddies and someone has a joint, I'll toke.

I was thinking about legalizing pot on the way to work today, and I thought about the problems police might have with it. People can easily lace pot with harder drugs like cocaine, and this would make it harder for police to identify cokeheads.. I mean if it's legal, can't they just "hide" it in their joints?

dogman
Dec 24, 2009, 01:07 AM
why would 'they' want to?
over the last 35yrs, i've never ever heard of anyone having their cannabis laced with cocaine.

anyway, if it were legal the whole production side of things would be a lot different than it is now. also most folk would grow their own, so no fear of contamination.

if the government got involved[because of the huge profits], then the quality would be controlled too.

They can easily lace cocaine with regular ciggies, too. People are always going to take that extra step to amp up their highs no matter what. Ever watch "Intervention"? I mean if they can make crack (or whatever it is) out of cough syrup, then nothing that's seemingly harmless is safe either. Including marijuana.

:rolling3:

I'm a very honest person, so here goes nothing-
I started smoking pot my freshmen year of high school after something major (well, in retrospect, it was nothing but I was a very silly girl back then) happened in my personal life. I basically looked for anything that could take my mind off of what happened and how hurt I was. So, I smoked a lot of pot. And then summer came and I smoked even more pot. You know how they say that you don't really get high the first or second time, and after that you're good to go? I was the complete opposite. I was high as a kite for the first 5-6 times, and then after that I got steadily more tolerant. By the time summer was over, I could barely get high at all. I went on a date in my sophomore year with a guy (who turned out to be an amateur drug dealer :afraid2:) and all we did was smoke pot. That's all he wanted to do with me that night. Because I wasn't getting high, I was bored out of my mind. I still can't get high, and I really don't care enough to do anything about it. I have friends that do it sometimes and I'll take a puff here and there maybe, sure - but it's not part of my life anymore. I have no problem if people are doing it around me or whatever, I just don't take part in it.

There are much better things I think people could do with their drug money, but I think it would be really helpful if they legalized pot.

I think drugs should be legal, regulated and taxed. That should put a huge dent in the street crime problem, leaving us to deal with the graft created by the government offices who regulate and tax said drugs.

No problem with marijuana. Know tons of very functional people who do it. I dont do it myself but thats just cuz i have no time to ha. Steady job and school, its just not wise at this time.Although when i have done it its just a relaxing experience to me. The only problem i see with it is the people who revolve their life around it completely. Its very sad because as george said, theyre trying to fill a hole, trying to find happiness in doing drugs because they cant find it anywhere else.

Never did drugs but of course have been around it quite often, at school parties and after that.

Especially after the two Bob Marley concerts I knew the smell of me and my clothes would have expected people to think I did it lol, whereas I was probably with my friend Cor the only two rather sober people in the audience.

We drove home an hour with all windows open with all rastaman vibrations people in cars around us going the same way back to Rotterdam which was a loud noise of Marley Music....and still when we got home... amazing lol...but...great fun and no problems anywhere.

I do eat a lot of mushrooms but not those which drive people nuts.
