Okay, heres this weeks review. Lets see what happens... "Every Little Thing Volumes 1-4" : Overdone Productions
http://faab.pro.tok2.com/ooo/overdone/odp2002.jpg

Allright, just a heads up first. If you're one of those with no interest in 'alternate mixes" then run, and fast. images/icons/smile.gif Ok, theyre gone, we can continue. It seems every Beatleg producer has at least one good idea; with Silent Sea it was the themed by album boots ("Please Me Do", etc,) and for Overdone, its "Every Little Thing". This set lives up to the title. Its billed as every alternate mix released around the world, and by heck it almost is. The tracks run the gamut from the obvious stuff (the mono I Feel Fine with whispering,Baby Youre a Rich Man with the "..ven" at the start) all the way to the most trivial, nit picky imaginable. I guess they were trying to fill space with, to me, the worst offender: "The End/Her Majesty" with, instead of 20 sec. silence in between...***5***seconds! GASP! So whats so groovy about this CD set? Well as I said, if you like alternate mixes and oddities like this, you'll be in heaven. Sure, without a scorecard you cant tell a lot of difference between some, but this is the best way, hands down, to get ALL the important mono variations, the Capitol created 'remixes', and even cool little heard rarities like "Fab Four on Film" and "Dialouge From the Film Let It Be".It also features, when appropriate, the early stereo mixes that are now the rare tracks, instead of the other way around as it used to be(remember then?). Yes, as I mentioned, some things, like the reel to reel edited tracks are a bit much, but interesting (if maddening) to hear.Looking quickly, it seems the most represented tracks are "Im Only Sleeping" ( this is great to have all these variations in one place at last) and "I Am the Walrus".Some of my favorites?
"Please Please Me" -stereo, with no mistake in the last verse. Where did this come from? Who knows.
"Yesterday"- no string section. Not even a hint of it. An outfake, to be sure,I think..but its very nice to hear!
"Don't Bother Me"-the Canadian version with the extra "Dont" before the final chorus.
"Roll Over Beethoven"- and all the early US mixes.I know people slam these for being too heavily reverberated, but it makes the tracks sound HUGE.
"Shes A Woman"-Very cool to go from the 'count-in version, with its pristine clean sound, to the ultra muddy Capitol versions. These are particularly mind boggling, as they just sound BAD!
"Paperback Writer"-count-in version with a few seconds longer outro.
"I'm Looking Thru You"-false start US version. I STILL think this is the way its supposed to sound.

Again, there are some outfakes here, such as the "Abbey Road Medley" with Her Majesty back in, or Majesty herself with the final chord. But this is minor stuff for such a cool set. Overall, it does seem 'all too much', and you just may wanna break it down into a double CD of your own choosing. But if you get "Every Little Thing", your search for those illusive Beatles mixes should finally be put to a rest.
SUMMARY/RATING: *****5 stars(if you like this kinda stuff) and *** otherwise, because if you DON'T well, this set is useless to ya, ain't it? images/icons/wink.gif .Umpteen versions of the greatest music ever recorded? I say yes and yay to Overdone. Its all about being so familiar with these songs, hearing them for all these years, that a different nuance heard can bring a song back to life again for you. So I highly reccomend this one Fabites!

COMING UP, UNLIKE A FLOWER: "John Lennon:The Final BBC Interview" and "George Harrison:Rockline 1992". No music, just words of wisdom. Thats next weekend on Beatles Bootleg Reviews. Now ironically, your reviews of MY review!

I may, however (if anybodys still reading these things..) switch and do a brand new disc next time I'm itching to review. We've talked about it, onosideboards, via email. I SORT of got it via download, listened to it all, but only burned all but 4 tracks, so I dont have the whole thing on disc yet. Dunno If you got your official copy yet or not. Yea, youre busy, I know!!! We'll see, unless you folk really wanna know about the Lennon and Harrison discs. Ya gotta tell me!!

haven't got my review ready yet but at least I can congrat you on your 600th post, almost 700 now. Hey there are people reading this stuff there are 33 views, unless it's just jou and me checking in, otherwise I have to post a sign like in restaurants where you can't sit down without having at least one drink,so
Don't view this topic unless you're planning on posting something!

Looks like I am the one again who gets to say which review is next. I want to read something about new boots, so my vote goes to a brand new disc.

Well I can actuall be brief with my review (why didn't you post it earlier then?). This is not of interest for everyone but you may change your mind later. When I began with bootlegs I wasn't intersted in these diferent remixes also but now I have a simular set then the "Every Little Thing" one. It's also a series of 4 cd's, I don't have the last one cause I had most of the material on other bootleg, but it's a cd-r set on the Birthday label. The "Overdone Productions" set seems to be more complete but at a first look the ones missing on my set are the outfakes, I don't have "Yesterday" without strings or the "Her Majesty" versions. I would probably knock one starr off the "Overdone" set cause of the outfakes, but since everything what is on the "Birthday" set is also on the "Overdone" set it wouldn't be fair, you only get more songs for your money even if they are outfakes.

Some of my favourites, Help! with bond intro, the complete "I Am The Walrus" "I am looking through you" with the false starts.Yes on some tracks you will almost not hear the differences to the normal cd-versions but a lot are genue different mixes and you won't have the search for all the different album and single releases from all over the world, everything is here together on the "Overdone" set and also on the "Birthday" set but apart from some outfakes I think the Overdone set has also some more real different mixes that aren't on the Birthday set.

I don't know which of the two is easiest to find tho, get your hands on one of them.

Hmm, see I've never heard of the Birthday versions of "ELT". Theres so much 'interchange' in boot companies today. Why cant it be like it was, Yellow Dog has one thing, so and so another..oh yeah, lack of originality, thats it!!And yes Legs, we may very well be the only ones reading these! Seems this forum is one where people only go,like once a week. Like its some dark forest or something.. images/icons/wink.gif Thats why I'm shooting to be a moderator here!! Oh, we've got a good one already, sorry!

Legs, i don't know if this is what you mean, but i got Macca live in Manchester and will soon receive Macca in Moscow, both from the back in the world tour.

better yet, i also have a sampler of 5.1 extractions from the anthology dvds but will soon have all 8 discs. i actually do have a lot to say about the sampler, but it's more about the quality of the extraction than the music itself.

but best of all, i'm getting day by day vol. 33 soon and will be more than happy to review that when i get it.

i think these reviews are a great idea! i just wish i could devote more time to it.

For some reason I only wound up with a few of them on disc, not sure how I managed that.Got them on WinMX. I remember the traders 'handle'. I know where your copy comes from, and come to think of it, isnt this kind of 'trading'(file sharing) kind of frowned upon by your source? I did listen to the whole thing, but I still need the entire disc.
I'd like to hear about the 5.1 things too. Not sure how that works.
And by this point, is the DBD series in the Apple Studios? And how much of it is still unheard stuff?

I don't know what this is,

cdr/5.1 degrees of separation. (http://www.fabfour.de/labels/cdr/5_1/5_1.html)

Well, this is what I'm saying, I've heard some breakdowns of the 5.1 mixes, and to me its not that different than 'OOPSing'. I'd rather someone do one of these clandestine 'remixes'. But then again, Beatles music IS Beatles music, so it can't be boring at least! I backtrack again BTW, how bout a look at the 24 bit remasters this weekend?
