Hello everyone. i recently downloaded a rough demo of the song "goodbye". As you know, Paul gave this song to mary hopkins. Has anyone else heard this? I think its a great song. Tell me your thoughts on it. Also, when was it written? 1969?

I think Paul's recording is almost better than Mary Hopkins original

Paul's demo is absolutely better. You can hear the Mary Hopkin version on the current radio broadcast...

Hello Perhaps, graemlins/wave1.gif *
The bootleg I have with 'Goodbye' on it says that it was recorded at EMI studios in December 1968, which sounds about right.

I like both versions. My friends and I performed this song many years ago at Beatlefest.
Susan or Harb, it does appear that this should be moved - will you please? Thanks!

Finally this topic is where it belongs to! images/icons/wink.gif
I downloaded Paul's demo the other night and was quite surprised to find that someone had done the backing to it. I mean the harmonies, the bass and additional guitar. It sounded quite good actually. Then I downloaded the original demo and it was very good too.

There is just the one with Paul on guitar, which I agree is simply beatiful and the Hopkins version, which I don't play often.

Oh never mind, probably a fake version with someone adding the extra stuff.

Yeah, it was a fake that you run across sometimes. It sounded great though and made me wonder how it would have sounded like in Beatles' record.
