Dear friends,
Could you help me to clarify my question about Paul McCartney and Jimi Hendrix co-recordings?
I have read in "BLUES WHO'S WHO by Sheldon Harris (A Biographical Dictionary of Blues Singers)" [Fifth paperback printing - March, 1989 Da Capo Press, Inc. New York] in article about Jimi Hendrix:
rec w Paul McCartney, Parlophone label, London, 1967.
There is mentioning at http://www.rockmine.music.co.uk/Hendrix/JimiTape.html
Jimi Hendrix Tape List 25:03:1969 Hendrix/McCartney Jam, Record Plant. NYC.
I asked the question at www.henrdix.ru (http://www.henrdix.ru) and they answered that they have bootleg record: Hendrix and McCartney play and sing together (actually, it's hard to believe that).
I hope if we come together we can work it out. All together now!

Hendrix is my second love, but I've never heard of any recording of Jimi & Paul McCartney. Hendrix did record "Day Tripper" for BBC Radio, but I think it's pretty much accepted that John Lennon is NOT on that recording. If you find any more information, please come back here and post about it, I'm definitely interested.

No such thing as a McCartney/ Hendriks recording. Hendriks did "Sgt Peppers Live" that's all and it was not together with Paul.

Hey Legs! I mean HendriX, but not some Dutsch guy named Hendriks :-)
Yes, you're right. I have Jimi's record "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".
About PM & JH: could it be some unreleased, unknown session. You know, the above mentioned book is very respectable edition. I think we can trust it. But maybe there's a mistake: instead Paul McCartney, must be Paul Butterfield? In April, 1968 Jimi played with The Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

But the thing is while it doesn't have to be on a bootleg by now there should have been some documentation, or some talk in the bootleggers circles. This to me comes out of the blue, not everything is on bootleg but you hear at least some unreleased things being mentioned here and there, like Carnival of Light and the long version of Helter Skelter.

My end conclusion so far that it is most likely a mistake and that it is indeed The Paul Butterfield Blues Band.
Till someone else has more info.

I haven't heard of any recording with the both of them on it, but Paul and Jimi were friends so its not entirely impossible.

Hey guys! It seems that I found it (with a little help from my www.beatles.ru (http://www.beatles.ru) friends).
You can check it at http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=CASS80305170055&sql=A9ev8b5x4tsqk
McGough & McGear. Album title: McGough & McGear. Mike McGear (Michael McCartney) is Paul McCartney's brother. Paul was producer of the album. Jimi played guitar!!!
McGough & McGear
May 17, 1968 (release) LP Parlophone 7047
Jack Bruce - Bass
Dave Mason - Sitar
Paul McCartney - Producer
Mike McGear - Vocals
Roger McGough - Vocals
Jimi Hendrix - Guitar
Gary Leeds - Drums
Barry Fantoni - Saxophone
The last, the 15-th song is "the satirical "Ex-Art Student" (with Jimi Hendrix on guitar)".
"Far from being just a Beatles-related curiosity, McGough & McGear is a fine (and rare) album deftly combining poetry, comedy, and a good amount of solid pop-psychedelic rock.
The record also boasted a roster of all-star guests, including, unsurprisingly, Paul McCartney; McCartney's then-girlfriend, actress Jane Asher; Jimi Hendrix, who adds cool psychedelic guitar to "Ex-Art Student"; the other members of the Jimi Hendrix Experience; John Mayall; Zoot Money; Graham Nash; Spencer Davis; ex-Pretty Things drummer Viv Prince; ex-Yardbirds bassist Paul Samwell-Smith; Dave Mason; Gary Leeds of the Walker Brothers; and yet more names that will be known to aficionados of swinging London, like Margaret Asher (Jane Asher's mother) and socialite Prince Stanislaus Klossowiski de Rola. The Beatles' official biographer, Hunter Davies, wrote the liner notes.
The album was largely recorded in the summer of 1967, but not completed and released until the following year. It's been reported that it was intended for issue on the Beatles' new Apple label, but in the end it appeared on Parlophone (the Beatles' standard record company). The album went little noticed, and was only briefly reissued on CD before it went out of print again."
So, it looks like that the note in that book Blues Who's Who (see my first post in the Forum) is true?..

Dear friends,
I'd like to share with you below mentioned information, which a Russian blues guitarplayer sent me:
My friend has this CD: Jimi Hendrix w/ Paul McCartney, Dave Mason, Nash - June 1967 - "Paul McCartney's Birthday Party Jam Session" - CDR(1) - STUDIO - A
Of course, it must be bootleg.
So, I'm gonna find out 'bout it more. I'll try it.

At http://www.jimihendrixshncdrtradingpage.com/Trade%20List.html you can see this:
Jimi Hendrix w/ Paul McCartney, Dave Mason, Nash - June 1967 - "Paul McCartney's Birthday Party Jam Session" - CDR(1) - STUDIO - A
There are some explainations 'bout it at http://jimihendrix13.tripod.com/mainfolder/Mcgough.htm
Mcgough & Mcgear w/ Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix, Noel Redding, Mitch Mitchell, Dave Mason, Graham Nash, Brain Jones - Paul McCartney's Birthday Party Jam Session 6/67:
- So Much
- Ex Art Student
But at the same site (but other page) http://jimihendrix13.tripod.com/mainfolder/1967.htm#june67 I found this:
June 1967
1. SPEAKEASY LONDON-JIMI JAMS WITH JOSE FELICIANO
4. SAVILLE THEATRE, LONDON W1 -2-
5. LONDON STUDIO RECORDINGS
13. USA--FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS JIMI ATTENDS A BUNCH OF CONCERTS
18. MONTEREY INTERNATIONAL POP FESTIVAL
You know, 18 June is PM' birthday. No mentioning 'bout Birthday Party Jam... :-(
And at http://jimihendrix13.tripod.com/mainfolder/1968.htm
Jan. 1968
20. DE LANE LEA - LONDON , RECORDING WITH MCGOUGH & MCGEAR (Mike McGear - is PM brother)

You know, I've read Pauls comments on Jimi before, and hes never mentioned playing music with him. You'd think he'd have mentioned that oh, several HUNDRED times! Now, the thing with Mike McGear seems more plausible. Roger McGough was, and is, highly respected in those parts of the world.

Actually, it's up to Paul.
Maybe he forgot it :-)
Maybe it wasn't :-(
There's a message from Zepplock at beatles.ru forum http://www.beatles.ru/postman/forum_messages.asp?msg_id=6322&cpage=2
"I'm downloading Jimi Hendrix w/ Paul McCartney "Paul McCartney's Birthday Party Jam Session" using peer-to-perr programm DirectConnect. Gonna check it up". (this posting in Russian)
He's still downloading it. So, I wait for the news from him.

Just wanna tell you:
Linda McCartney was one of photographs who took pictures of Jimi.
It's mentioned on Jimi's "South Saturn Delta" - 1997
Yes, this is not Paul McCartney and Jimi Hendrix co-records? but it's interesting.
