First of all hi to everyone. First post for me here!

I have a few questions;

I have read about a new 5:1 mix of sgt.pepper (by mirror spock, or spock mirror) does anyone know anyhting about it or how i would go about getting this?

I have a mate who says that there is a bootleg album which features all the beatles on each others solo stuff (ie paul's bass overlayed on a geroge track etc) is this true or am i having my leg pulled?

Are there any sites where there are reviews of bootlegs, i am just starting at this stuff and am somewhat overwhelmed by the sheer number of recordings out there!

Finally if there is anyone out there in the UK willing to do a P & B to get me started i'd be v grateful.

Many thanks.

Welcome Dr. Kite!
Bootleg Zone (http://www.bootlegzone.com/) is still the best place as far as I'm concerned for reviews about bootlegs.
Also I would stay away from the bootleg with solo mixes you mentioned, it sounds like a fake.

Thanks for the help. The site you mentioned appears to be down at the moment! I will try again later.

Dr Kite,
Also get WinMX. It may be slow and frustrating findiung the stuff at times, but you can download a lot of goodies that way as well....
get a few tracks, listen, and decide if you want the CD.

Welcome to Beatlelinks! What do you mean by a 'P & B'? graemlins/images/icons/confused.gif <font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">Sorry got that wrong that should have been B & P, as i understand it (after having reserched usenet) it stands for Blank and Postage, ie. someone sends a black disc (2,3 ,4 whatever) and the kind person on the other end burns a copy of a bootleg on it and sends it back in the SAE supplied by the original sender.

there's also Free As A Boot for a beatleg database.

http://faab.pro.tok2.com/frame/frame.html

i usually go to bootlegzone first, but if it's down (which is at least once a day) i visit FAAB.

mirror spock is discussed quite a bit on the yahoo beatlegs group as well. now, i haven't heard of mirror spock actually creating a 5.1 mix of anything...rather, several remixers extract each channel so there's 5 or 6 versions of each song.

and i'm with legs on that solo thingy you heard about. for sure it's outfakes, which some people don't mind, but overall it sounds a bit fishy anyway.

This was what i was referring to:

Hope that makes things a bit less vague for everyone! images/icons/smile.gif

It may be exactly what onosideboards was saying above but the technobable in that post defeated me! images/icons/smile.gif though i am sure that those who are more in the know about such matters (ie. those less dense than me) knew what you meant!
