I just downloaded what is supposed to be a Beatles demo of the Peter and Gordon song "Nobody I Know". However, i'm not sure it is them. It at times sounds a bit like John but I actually cant tell. Theres also whats called a 'demo' of For No One that...I dont know, it doesnt sound like Paul circa 66. Anybody shed a little light?

Your "Nobody I Know" demo sounds a lot like the one I downloaded from WinMX. It was labeled as a Beatles recording, and it sort of sounds like John, but I don't think it's actually him. Too whiny and nasal. I've never found any evidence that the Beatles definitely recorded a demo of it, so I think it's a fake.

I've never heard the "For No One" demo, sorry!

"Nobody I Know" - not the Beatles; in fact, no Beatles demos of the Peter and Gordon songs they wrote have surfaced (though acetates do exist).

"For No One" - there are outtakes of takes 1 & 2 available from the John Barrett playbacks, but what you probably have is Paul running through the tune for George Martin on the South Bank Show in December 1983 (featuring Paul vocalizing the French Horn solo).

Thanks paranoiac, you've confirmed my suspicions. I know that Paul speaks of a demo of Peter and Gordons "Woman" during 'LIB', and you have to assume these things exist somewhere. Just not in our hands! And youre dead on with the For No one thing; at the open he says something about George. And does vocalize the trumpet parts.Oh well, nice to hear him sing it again anyway.Yeah EB, thats what I thought too, that whoever it is singing was too nasally to be John , but occasionally..guess we can easily mark that off. There is on Winmx whats called a demo of "Woman", but its just Paul running thru it during "LIB". Its just that new stuff seems to fall out of the sky all the time, and I wasnt sure if I'd missed some new beatleg!
