Does anyone have A Toot And A Snore In 74 or has anyone heard it?
If so, is it really as bad as I've read?

It's more interesting than anything. I mean, there's no great musical output, but it's kind of fun to listen to them on the recording anyway because of who it is.

It's pretty much garbage to me. Historic, yes, but that's about it. It's in the premium forum if you want to hear it.

I downloaded it a few months ago and finally listened to it about 2 weeks ago. I don't think it's garbage, I thought it was pretty interesting. It's pretty short as well so it doesn't get tedious. You probably won't play it much, but it's worth checking out just because.

Oh, it's awful!
The album is only interesting from a historical perspective. Otherwise, you wouldn't have really known that Lennon, McCartney, Nilsson, Wonder, et al., played on it (though you may recognize Lennon's voice). Really just a bunch of well-known and talented musicians goofing off in the studio. This was recorded during Lennon's "Lost Weekend," when he wasn't exactly up to musical par.
Cocaine's a helluva drug.
As far as good bootlegs go, stick with the Kinfauns demos.

Kinfauns only?
A bit limited I think.
Anyway I agree with most of your post,
but I disagree that John's music wasnt'up to par during the lost weekend, he made one of his best albums during that period. It only doesn't show on this bootleg, which is interesting to hear once, but don't expect any real songs where you can hear both John and Paul singing together.

It's just like listening in on someone's party, it just happens to be a bunch of famous people getting lit in a studio. If you have an interest, check it out just for the novelty of it. No harm in that. This Fighting Irish person hates everything and his opinion is always right. I've had to read his self-centered replies to my posts on a number of occasions, so I wouldn't pay it much mind. Do what you want, not what someone else tells you you should like or avoid.

Just used that one as an example. As for Lennon, there was "Walls And Bridges", which I think is one of his best albums. I really like that one. But he did that one after he came back to New York.
In L.A. he did the Spector "Rock And Roll" thing, which turned into a huge pile of mediocrity. McCartney did a better job on the oldies thing with "USSR", "Run Devil Run" and even "Unplugged".

Why is everybody always pickin' on me?
Geez, people are starting to pile on and brand me a troll. Self-centered? I assure you I'm not. What did I post that you didn't like? I really can't recall any beef with you. This little attack on me has seemingly come out of nowhere, and I'm a bit blindsided by it. So, since you're digging into me, does that mean that you just hate everyone and your opinion doesn't matter? Tit for tat.
As for boots, there's a ton of stuff I really like, such as the "Get Back" acetate, the Sgt. Pepper multitracks and a whole lot more. Just threw out Kinfauns as an example. Dumb line, but we all do that on boards. I admit, I was a bit crabby yesterday. Personal stuff, ya know.
Hey, I didn't say avoid "Toot" at all costs. The guy asked an opinion, and I gave it. Now I'm the bad guy? Sheesh! Hey, if the guy wants to check it out, by all means do. It's not exactly sonic brilliance, but it sure won't kill you.
As for expressing personal opinions, well, isn't this a message board? Tell you what, to make you happy, should I just type "yes" or "no" answers? Should you do the same?

I can think of a couple of reasons to maybe change that habit :teeth1:
(stands in a nice Irish pub and the girl of his dreams who he never saw before walks in...20 minutes later you are even talking with her and she is very enthousiastic and has twinkling eyes for the fighting irish guy...till he says... you are the most beautiful guy I have ever seen and...a few seconds later smells the g and t on his face...just one example.. )

It's not directed against me. But please no, I like a good discusion.
The more different opinons the better.
Sorry you had a bad day.
It translated a bit in your message, but indeed it happens to everyone.
I do have the bootleg in a trade. Didn't want to spend money on it, but wanted to have the recordings. I remember that the versions of "Stand By Me" were at least somewhat listenable. And there are some remarks by John to Paul about his drumming if I am not mistaken.
"Walls and bridges" is one of my favourite albums. And I agree that I find "Rock N Roll" a bit lacklustre, and not really great. However while it was recorded while John wasn't in a very good state of mind. Mostly drunk also, he did finish it after the Lost Weekend when he got the tapes back from Spector and while he was sober again.

And perhaps this holier-than-thou number that keeps lobbing personal attacks at me (when I don't recall ever having any interaction with him) is having a bad day too.
Hey, I don't make it a point to blindly attack anyone here. That's stupid. Hey, we've all got opinions, right? Let's be civilized, folks.

If someone has a problem with someone then it's best to talk it out through pm's.
And as said nothing wrong with different opinions.

It's as if people think that because there is a room full of talented musicians that magic is supposed to happen. I seriously doubt that it was supposed to be an effort to create anything. They were just hanging out and it should be accepted as such, but people like to natter because nothing brilliant materialized. Lighten up.

I agree it was just a fun session, no doubts some liquid or other substances were used, and it's not meant for a public hearing.
But since it was a session involving both Paul and John after the break up, one can expect a bit much from this. But nevertheless it's an historic recording.

I did the PM thing earlier. Asked him why he's directly attacking me on the boards. No response. No surprise. Just another cretin on a message board.
Hey, I'm fairly new here, and I certainly don't feel welcome. There are other Beatles boards around, and perhaps they'll be a bit more hospitable. I really don't need this shit.

Fighting Irish has the ringo_rama Stamp of Approval. You mess with him, you mess with me. He is absolutely correct--Toot is worth hearing once to fulfill morbid curiosity. Nonetheless it remains the single most disappointing recording in human history.

Sometimes people just get off on the wrong foot, you know? Often it's just a misunderstanding that escalates. Also, it's not always easy to catch the tone of voice or a joke when you can't see or hear the other person.
Tip of the day: If you feel unfairly treated by another forum member, then don't quit the board in a huff. Contact one of the Mods instead; that's what they're here for. Any one of them. Legs here, for instance, is a nice guy but by no means the only one. I've been on other boards and this is by far one of the friendliest out there. Truth.

Back to the bootleg then. Is there more than one version of it? I got the one from here on Links containing 9 tracks to a total of 50 minutes.
Track 1 - we light up
Track 2 - Paul? or is it John add libbing to a blues riff. Amazingly most of it rhymes!
Track 3 - John explains why jam sessions are crap so he obviously knows the quality of this. Asks why he's the only one talking.
Track 4 - Suddenly realizes he's the one with the mike. Shrewed. Very exprimental slow blues version of Lucille. Little Richard would never recognize it.
Ok, I've started this off, who's doing the next track?
