Selleband is a dutch music company but not an traditional one. www.sellaband.com

An artist doesn't have to go directly to an traditional record company anymore if they want to record an album. So called believers of a band or singer songwriter can support their favourite artist, also by donating a bit of money to help them record a cd. You get their music in return, either as mp3's or a cd, depends on the artist. And eventually you get a share in the profit. Not to happy with your band afterall, withdraw your support and you can get your money back.

Along the way you can browse through the site, listen to the music and discover new stuff,
or old favourites. Might be good for The Moody Blues to finally get a new album out there, while the record company is only interested in selling Nights in White Satin again and again.

Another initiative comes from Julian Lennon with his http://www.therevolution.com/

Another way for the future of music?
