I recently bought one of those great Russian double-CDs, with the "Yellow Submarine" and "Get Back" albums on it. I assumed the "Get Back" album would be one of the Glyn Johns versions, but the lineup seems to be different! I don't know much about the various incarnations of the "Get Back" album, so I was hoping one of you bootleg experts could help me identify it. graemlins/teeth1.gif
The version I have appears to have been distributed to radio stations in 1970, from Apple, as "an advance pressing of the LET IT BE album." The track listing includes details of how each track differs from the version on the "Let It Be" album. Here's the track listing:
1. One After 909
2. Don't Let Me Down
3. Dig a Pony
4. I've Got a Feeling
5. Get Back
6. For You Blue
7. Teddy Boy
8. Two of Us
9. Dig It
10. Let It Be
11. The Long and Winding Road
The cover is worded, "with Don't Let Me Down and 9 other songs." I haven't been able to find this exact lineup on Bootlegzone - does anyone know more about it? Thanks! graemlins/smile1.gif

Sounds like the second Get Back release. Before Don't Let Me Down do you hear a bit of Save The Last Dance For Me? And is there a reprise of Get Back after the Long and Winding Road. Otherwise the tracklist is the same.
The title is "Get Back with Don't Let Me Down and 9 other songs." is one of the many Bootleg releases, often released with original artwork, already made for the intended Get Back album in 1969.

And there's nothing else after "The Long and Winding Road." That's what's so confusing - I've never seen any "Get Back" listings with this exact lineup.

i, too, cannot find any track listings that show this lp.
in 'the ultimate rcording guide' it states that the cd 'get back w/ don't let me down and 9 others' is a bogus 'emi/parlaphone' (cdp 7 48003 2), but the listing is diff than yours.
it may be just another variation of cuts thrown together. it is definitely not one of the 'glynnis' mixes he did for the boys.
but how is the quality overall?
(i still have my white lable copy i bought in a headshop in new orleans in 1969! and it beats the daylights outta 'let it be', it is the the second mix btw.)
as far as the russian thingy is involved, i got the complete 'unsurpassed masters' on ebay for a song awhile back. . . it is great! and russian, whoda thought!

You have the original version of the Get Back album. It was originaly titled:
Get Back with Let It be and 11 other songs.
This was the one that was to be released in August of 1969. The second version which was slated for January 1970 is as follows:
The One After 909
Rocker(Instrumental link)
Save The Last Dance For Me
Don't Let Me Down
Dig A Pony
I've Got A Feeling
Get Back
Let It Be
For You Blue
Two Of Us
Maggie Mae
Dig It
The Long And Winding Road
I Me Mine
Across The Universe
Get Back(Reprise)
The book, The Beatles Recording Sessions will verify all of this.

Welcome Jim to the forum.
I don't think that's the one she has,I thought so to but she already mentioned that Get Back doesn't come after The Long And Winding Road, and also the bit of Save The Last Dance is missing.

Let me describe the CD inserts a bit more, because this was the part I found especially confusing! The insert includes a note from Peter Brown, on an Apple Records letterhead, that states:
Dear DJ:
The enclosed disc is an advance pressing of the Beatles upcoming "LET IT BE" album.
This disc is an exclusive limited pressing for radio station only. We hope you will use and enjoy it.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact me c/o Apple Records Inc., 1700 Broadway, New York City.
Anyway, if you'd enjoy using it, we'd enjoy having you.
Regards,
Peter Brown
Apple Records Inc.
Below the letter, there is a track listing, with an explanation of how each track differs from the Beatles' "LET IT BE" LP version. For example, on my CD, "Dig It" is 4:32. Here's the description:
9. DIG IT 4:32 (Lennon-McCartney-Harrison-Starkey)
Recorded January 26th. A long part from a 12:25 min session in Stereo. The later released version on the "LET IT BE" album was shorter (48 sec.). This part is taken from 8.52 min. to 9.41 min.
There are similar descriptions for all 11 tracks. If this LP really was released to radio stations by Apple, I'm guessing the descriptions weren't included.
So...does that sound familiar, or did I just confuse everyone even futher? graemlins/teeth1.gif The quality of the recordings is excellent. Let me know if you'd like more info on the tracks. Thanks for all of your help so far! graemlins/smile1.gif
