What a shame - the exhibition will now close early.
I have tried to paste the article but it won't work so follow the link if you want to read.

Thanks for posting, Lucy.
Here is the message the organisation left on Myspace
Dear All,
It is with regret that we inform you that an exhibit was stolen from one of the cabinets in the exhibition hall.
The item in question is a signed black and white photograph of George from 1985 in Hong Kong made out to a fan named Cherry.
For further information or if you may be able to help, please get in touch at info@forgeorge.co.uk
As this is being run by volunteers on a shoe-string, extra security and manning are not an option.
This is put together by fans out of their own private collection and we cannot afford the risk of any further theft.
Unfortunately as is often the case, one person can spoil things for everybody.
Therefore, today (1st of September) will be the last day opportunity to view the exhibition.
The exhibition has achieved even more than we ever hoped in its support and appreciation.
We would like to thank everybody who has supported and visited both the concerts and exhibition as well as everybody who helped out especailly all at St George's Hall.
Peace and Love
For George

What a shame,
it's just not something material that has been taken away,
but everything that has gone into the exhibition, the people works and all, and now it has to end before time.

Here is a photo of the stolen picture....so perhaps if any of you are collectors and come upon it, you could let them know:

i was lucky enough to see the exhibition and was glad to see how much love was put into George by his fans. It's just a small way to give back some of the much happiness he brought to the world.
regarding the theft, shame on who did it, i am sure it wasn't even a george fan, for us truly fans wouldn't dare to do such a sacrilege

Lucy, thank you for posting the picture and the signature.
I hope the scoundrel who stole it will do the right thing and return the purloined portrait.

That sucks, to say the least. Now since one person decided to be stupid, they've ruined it for everyone.

The bastard pillager who pilfered the picture would do well to return the purloined portrait.
The scoundrel!
