What are some good programs that split the AlbumWrap (ALBW) files? I've read about several different programs but I wanted some Beatlelinker's opinions first. also, are there any programs that can split/edit non-ALBW files?

Thanks in advance!

Right, think I can learn something new here, what are AlbumWrap files?
I'm searching for an program that lets you split Mp3's, I've got one Mp3 that's an whole concert (non Beatle related) and I want to split the concert in different Mp3's of the songs, but I don't know if that's what your looking for also.

I'll ask around.

Legs, that CD ex program you sent me, that has a facility to record parts of mp3 files. Is that what we mean here?

Here's the link http://www.cdex.n3.net/
Still not sure if this is what we are talking about, AlbumWrap files?

I don't know how to technically describe it but I'll try: an AlbumWrap file is one huge file that is made up of several mp3s put together. So an albumwrap of Beatles For Sale for example, would be every song back to back in ONE download BUT- it is read as if it were just ONE long, continuous song. If it is copied to a CD as is you wouldn't be able to skip between the tracks.
However, there are programs that can read where the tracks need to be separated and will turn the Major file back into smaller single files.
If you have WinMX, just type in "Beatles" and "ALWB" and (if the search is working properly) several downloads should come up.
Hopefully that didn't serve to only create more confusion.

i don't know of any programs, but I'm having someone email me a program so i can try it out. sometimes searching for "AlbumWrap Extractor" works but there's a few out there so that's why i was asking if anyone had a preferred program that they use.

I don't know if you already found this one, the reviews about the program are not very helpfull about 50% finds it a good program and the other half don't.

It's not what I'm searching for however, since this only seems to work with these Albumwrap files, and not with an Mp3 of a whole concert.

CD Wave Editor is a terrific shareware program for splitting large MP3 waves.

I don't have the URL but a Google search sould track it down!

The program that was sent to me via email is from http://www.infamus.com/albumwrap/

on the page it says that the AlbumWrap Extractor is Free. The "extractor" is the program that actually sepatates the files. Which is all I personally was after anyway.
On the other hand the program that creates AlbumWrap files (essentially putting several mp3s into ONE file) is $15.00.

On the other-other hand, apparently the $15.00 version was cracked and is free if you know where to look or who to ask.
The nice fellow who sent the the email to me sent both versions, the Free and the $15 programs.

I've been using the Extractor and a whole new world has been unleashed for me as far as downloading files.

I think concert files are usually made as one long file but I think it would be worth a try to see if it separates.

I'm learning more everyday images/icons/smile.gif
