This is obviousely a beginner's question but I'm asking anyway. What exactly is meant by the term 'Acetates'?? How is it different from other takes/versions?
Thanks in advance!

Acetates are reference recordings made
from a thin layer of lacquer or other
material covering a metal disc. As the
recording layer is very thin these discs
wear out very quickly. So if you have an
opportunity to buy one I'd listen to it
first. However, because of acetates we've
gotten to hear many unreleased Beatle
recordings that have been lost on tape
such as "Bad to Me" and "One and One Is
Two!" I hope my info is correct and welcome
to Beatlelinks.
