Hi - I have a boot of White Album songs (vol 1) and "some" of the songs are on there. I was always under the impression there were only about 10-12 songs from those tapes. Would love to find a list of what songs are available from the Esher tapes!

I don't know the number of songs, but would guess that twelve is close, but beware that on downloading sites also other demos are mentioned as being Esher Taped, whilst they are not. Even some of the Complete Lost Lennon Tapes are referred to as such.
Shouldn't this be moved to the Bootleg Forum?

There are actually about 25 songs available from these sessions. Just ask some of the former CD contest winners. Many people have asked for this CD. If that BootlegZone site still worked, I could post a link. But oh well.

I dont know if there really is a story. When they got back from India, they got together at George's house in Esher, Kinfauns, the end of May 1968,probably 30 May, and they played and recorded the songs they had written mostly during their visit there. George had an 4track recording equipment.
About some songs not being "Esher demos"
Well you got the Anthology and the Beatles themselves to blame for the confusion. Before Anthology 3 came out in 1996, there were only 23 esher demos. Mark Lewisohn only mentioned 23 songs in his book "Recording sessions" and the bootlegs, including "Unplugged" only contained these 23 songs. See the first 23 songs on my list, these were songs we know for sure that they were played at Esher. Then out of the blue Anthology 3 adds another 4 songs.
"Happines is a warm gun"
"Mean Mr. Mustard"
"Polythene Pam" and
"Glass Onion"
"Mean Mr. Mustar" and "Polythen Pam" doesn't sound as they were from Esher, but since they are on Anthology who knows.
So the list I have posted is the complete list of Esher demos. Go compare it with what you have, other songs then what is on the list are not from Esher.

I have the Esher Tapes on a Yellow Dog CD
called Unsurpassed Demos. The recording
quality is quite good, as with most Yellow
Dogs

To me, the one that doesn't sound like it's from the Esher tapes is "Happiness Is A Warm Gun." On almost every other song, there are a few voices singing. And it just sounds more like a "composing demo" rather than a completed song like the rest of the tracks.

I bring this old topic up because it answers my question I was going to post in here. I was wondering why all the Esher demo tape releases omit the tracks "Happiness Is A Warm Gun", "Mean Mr Mustard", "Polythene Pam" and "Glass Onion" whose only source is the Anthology 3.
Does anyone know were some other songs performed as well, others than what are present on Legs' list?
(Btw, "Helter Skelter", "Gurudeiva" and "Rishikesh No.9" are not Esher demos!):laugh5:

As far as I know, that's all of them. Those are the 27 that are available in the Premium forum that Jerry uploaded.

For now only 27 songs are comfirmed, but who knows in the future Apple will release another kind of Anthology magicaly adding another 6 songs to the list.
Some of the songs on "Anthology 3" still don't sound like they were from Esher to me.

Forgot to mention tho that prior to Anthology 3 the songs that were on bootleg were taken from a tape owned by John Lennon. The Anthology made use of a tape that was owned by George, so it's posible that there were diferent songs recorded on each tape.

I was again thinking about these tapes. It seems that Lennon owned a copy of George Harrison's tape and that tape was used for Lost Lennon Tapes broadcast and therefore many songs that were previously Lennon tapes became Lost Lennon Tapes in the full meaning of the phrase.
Being cynical I only observed how many bootlegs use the broadcast event, if not the original tapes, as their source.
