For the ones here just starting out with bootlegs and not having money to buy, or wanting to spend much on expensive boxsets the following double cd set is really good to start out with. From early takes till some of the get back sessions, early rehearsals unreleased songs like Bad To Me and Goodbye.A good addition to the Anthology series, it even comes with a booklet of 16 pages providing good information of the tracks, the sound is very good.

I agree it's a good collection. Unfortunately, my copy doesn't have the 16-page booklet. Any idea if the information in it is online somewhere?

That reminds me of something I've been meaning to ask. A while ago, I got a 2 CD-set that I thought was Anthology Plus, but it turned out to be a totally different album! It's called "Anthology 4," and I can't seem to find any info on it anywhere. Has anyone ever heard of this one?
It's alot like Anthology Plus, in that it contains a variety of songs from the Decca tape, EMI studio sessions, acoustic White Album, Get Back sessions, etc. It even has its own 16-page booklet. But the tracks are completely different from Anthology Plus! (I can list the tracks, if you like.)
I'm just wondering if anyone's ever heard of it - I was surprised that I couldn't find any info on it at all. It's very nicely done - the whole set is modeled after the official Anthology CDs. I've included a scan of the cover - has anyone ever seen this one before?

Kenny try second hand record stores, small specialised record stores and such, not normal record stores ofcourse.
Record markets, beatle fairs are also a good source for bootlegs. Keep an eye out on the internet or local papers to find out when one will be held nearby where you live.
EasternBird I would like to see the tracking list. I haven't heard about this bootleg before. Apart from Anthology Plus I know about one called Anthology extra and there's one called Anthology more.
I don't know what's on Anthology extra, I only remember seeing it once and that I didn't buy it cause I already had many if not all the tracks on other bootlegs.
I have the tracklist of Anthology more I didn't buy it and I can't really recommend it to anyone else, to many outfakes. Will post the tracklist and info later.

21. Free As A Bird 4'38''
Fake! An early Lennon demo has been used and been mixed together with Paul and George's voices from 1995.
The first cd is fine, I have most of the songs on other bootlegs. I've listed when posible on which bootlegs the songs also can be find.
To many outfakes for my taste on the second disc. Again when posible I've named other bootlegs, where the songs that are real outtakes can be find.

Thanks Easternbird. Yes those songs are on other bootlegs at well, if I saw it I wouildn't buy it cause I have the songs already, but this is a very good compilation. Just at glance I just see one possible outfake, or in this case an song not done by The Beatles but by the Remo Four, "In The First Place". Apart from that this and Anthology plus would be a good set for beginners.
It doesn't have everything,if you want everything save some more money to buy the ultimate colection by Yellow Dog.A great boxset. Then you need to have the BBC set by great dane. The complete hollywood bowl cd's, the complete Christmas cd.The new day by day series to have everything of the Get Back sessions.

Info on the song In The First Place
http://www.archervalerie.com/remo.html
http://www.artistdirect.com/store/artist/album/0,,847494,00.html
- "The recent video release of 'Wonderwall' has seen the Indian chants over the opening titles replaced by the Remo Four track 'In The First Place', a song newly-discovered in the search of the film's original stereo recordings. The Remo Four had been brought in as sessions players on the album and although Colin Manley and Tony Ashton are credited as the song's writers this brooding psych gem positively oozes Harrison circa '68. Re-issued on CD single in 1999 by Pilar." -

Thanks for the info, Legs. In restrospect, the backup band on "In The First Place" doesn't sound much like the Beatles! But it's an interesting song.
"Plus" looks like a good collection as well, and there are enough differences from "4" that I might consider getting it in the future. Since I'm new to bootlegs, it's nice to have a little sample from many different compilations, so I know what I'd be interested in hearing more of.
