Anybody around here like Jimi Hendrix? If I have a second love, it's Hendrix. As with a lot of things I get into, I get obsessed and I have to have everything. So over the years, I've managed to collect a boatload of his concerts on CD. I haven't counted lately, but it's gotta be around 100 by now.

As bad as The Beatles were in concert from 1964 on, Jimi was equally unbelievable up on stage. The Beatles played the same setlist throughout an entire tour, playing the songs quickly and with no heart. On the other hand, Hendrix probably NEVER played the same show back to back. He endlessly varied the setlists, even on days when he played two shows. And he didn't just play the song the way it sounded on the LPs. The minute his solo came around, he would fly off and jam in a thousand directions.

I don't bother to compare The Beatles & Hendrix, it's not something you can easily do. The Beatles will always be my favorite by far. But when I get into one of my "Jimi" stages, that's all I listen to for days.

I can't deny he was a great guitar player but I haven't got anything from Jimi (yet)know only the well known stuff. You won't happen to have Jimi's recording of "Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" Jerry. Perhaps he only played it once live, and who knows if it has been recorded.

I agree with you on the Beatles live, tho I have some live boots, the Japan ones and Hollywood Bowl, I don't give them a listen very often. Not really fond of the live bootlegs.

The time to see and hear The Beatles performing live was before 1964, when they were hungry. After that, they were just going through the motions. You really can't blame them for sounding like crap.

Jimi played Sgt. Pepper in concert a few times. I think I have 2 or 3 of them. If I remember right, the first time he did it was about a week after the LP came out in England. Isn't there a McCartney quote about this somewhere?

Yes there is, Jerry. Paul made a remark that the album had only been released 3-4 days earlier when he went to see Jimi in concert. Jimi opened with "Sgt. Pepper".
