Sept. 9th is going to be a very expensive day now. Now I need to by two box sets and Rock Band (for which I need to buy a Video Game system). I'll be very broke, but at least I'll be happy.

WOO HOO!!!!! This bit of news makes up for the fact that I wasn't able to get tix for the lynch benefit!!! (almost)
I am super stoked, and come september will be super broke! Thats gonna be the best birthday weekend ever!!
I have been saving up to buy a PS3 for the sole purpose of playing the Beatles rockband game (and street fighter and blu ray is a bonus too) and come sept. I plan on having enough cash already saved away to buy bothe the mono stereo and rockbad games all at once!!!!!!!!
Okay now I'm rambling, but watching the video on the beatles.com is just makin me drool... I can't wait to hear the remasters!

HA! How funny that I'm not the only one who has to buy a gaming system to accommodate Beatles Rock Band! Very broke, but very happy indeed, biglou!

I'm not buying an xbox, it's a pretty expensive venture. The game is 60, but then the xbox is 300+ and if you don't have the instruments (drums and guitar) it's another $250. BUT TODAY IS AN EXCELLENT DAY!!!

Well buying a Xbox 360 is cheaper than a PS3. I'm also planing to buy one refurbished which brings it down to the $150 range.
As for the instruments, I'd be getting those even if I had other ones. They're suppose to be based of the Fab's gear. In my eyes the game is not complete without them.

I'd only call it a rip off if they decided it's worth charging a huge premium for. Beatles CD's (well, the soon-to-be-obsolete ones from the late 80's) have pretty much constantly been $30 here, I'll be a bit annoyed if they put it up to, say, $40 just because it's 'better'.
But saying that, I'm definitely excited. All of my CD's have been very well used, and some are even beyond it now (Sgt. Pepper and Let It Be and Abbey Road are skipping a bit), so I can't wait to replace my collection!

I just ripped my entire CD collection (Beatles included) and sold just about all of them. I'm torn--the packaging looks great and would LOVE to have the doc movies. I may just hold out and get the boxed set. Not sure if I want the mono stuff, though. Glad to see that the first four albums are going to be released in stereo b/c I've had the stereo UK LPs for a long time and they sounded great! And, they weren't "fake stereo mixes", either!

I ditched most of my old 1987 Beatles CD's a long time ago... in lieu of one of the many rumors about the re-masters "coming soon" as well as having the Capitol Albums box sets for the 1964-65 albums. Guess it's time to unload Revolver-Abbey Road and see what I can get for them!
I am torn..... originally, I was just planning to just get the individual re-masters of "Revolver" thru "Abbey Road". But NOW I am faced with the dilemma of whether or not to go for these really awsome-sounding box sets.

it's going to be fascinating to see how well these cd's sell- i mean, we represent the bullseye of this campaign, but how many will actually purchase? [probably should do a poll here]. frankly, i'd be inclined to cheap-out and borrow from a friend, library, or the like.

You are right about that! I have a big red bullseye painted on me whenever Apple releases a new Beatles product.... and I am quite comfortable with this.
I would have to guess that I will be acquiring both boxed sets - whether through purchases or receiving as a gift.

ok- so you're in the definite BUY column. but my point was to question how many of "us" are hesitant. honestly, i'm already thinking of ways to get the material on my ipod w/out paying top retail prices. am i alone here?

I'm sure your not alone, but I really like complete sets... ;) I usually listen to music on my iPod, but I can't resist nice boxes like these...! Even though I will rip them to my Ipod! I just have to have those nice covers/replica's/extra's. ;) The awful design of the original cd's is one of the reasons I don't have those...! I have all other official Beatles-cd's but I've been waiting for boxes like these for years and years! (I do have all the Ebbett's cd's of the albums that are going to be released now, downloaded and burned them, with all covers printed on a professional printer: these Ebbetts covers are nice replica's! But these new boxes will surely beat those!)

There's nothing like official releases. I've heard so much about how great those Dr. Ebbett's CD's are. But if it hasn't got the Apple/EMI/Capitol logos on them, then it's not legit in my eyes.

Well it has these logo's on them. :teeth1:
But for a long while dr. Ebbets filled a gap that EMI/ Apple didn't fill.
He still does if you want the remaining U.S. capitol releases.

Ha Ha!
I have what I believe is an Ebbett's "Yesterday and Today"... but I am not sure. I know there are even boots of THOSE out there.
I am thinking that a Capitol Albums Vol. 3 is not anything that will happen soon - if ever - at this point. But that's cool. If I can get "Revolver" and upwards in these new re-masters, then that'll complete my collection nicely.

I'm most interested in "Revolver" and "Abbey Road" as far as the remasters go. Of course, I'm glad to see the first four albums in stereo for the first time on CD but those two I mentioned are what I'm really waiting for.

I'm looking forward to "Revolver," "Sgt. Pepper's," "Abbey Road," and "The White Album." Hee hee hee, a very expensive day, indeed.
