View Full Version : I can't ID these boot songs...

...but then again I'm not an expert. I've done some research but I can't nail these down (they're mp3's I've come across).

"Magical Mystery Tour"
About 2:45 in length; Paul's spoken intro and bus sounds are missing. It's in mono and kind of muddy sounding.

"Flying" - stereo
2:51. Sounds just like commercial version, but the spacey instrumental stuff at the end continues on, lasting for 1:20.

"Blue Jay Way" - stereo
This version is missing the cello at the beginning & end. Another peculiar thing is near the end, during the "don't be long, don't be lo-o-ong" you can clearly hear someone say "okay" between the vocal lines.

"Baby You're A Rich Man" - stereo
Sounds like the commercial version except the high-pitched instrument you normally hear all through the song is missing. Is this a remix?

Thanks for any help. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

Don't have th info yet on each track, but I do know about Flying. I am trying to get the long version for some time without luck sofar, but I have that one you mean, I call it the jazzy one. It is on some bootlegs.

Will do some more checking.

Thanks, FPSHOT. I should point out that this Flying isn't the one with the Dixieland jazz band bit at the end; it's just the whispy flute music that you normally hear at the end, only it continues on for about a minute and a half.

I checked with the bootlegzone site and couldn't find anything...

Is the MMT the one from the movie? You know, with John's spoken thing in the middle - "When a man buys a ticket to the Magical Mystery Tour, he knows what to expect..." Or try this link, and look at track 5. http://www.bootlegzone.com/album.php?name=acetates&section=1

I have this version of Flying. It's not that interesting. Try this link, and look at track 18. http://www.bootlegzone.com/album.php?name=ydb103&section=1

There are several versions of Blue Jay Way out there, I'm sure this is just one of them. Try this link, and look at track 7. http://www.bootlegzone.com/album.php?name=acetates&section=1

I'm not sure which version of Rich Man you're talking about. Again, it could just be mono. Try this link. http://www.bootlegzone.com/songxref.php?sid=24&section=1

On the Yellow Dog bootleg Acetates there are some "MMT" songs including Magical Mystery Tour, Blue Yay Way. Have to take that out and give it a listen can't remember which versions are on it.

Yes these are the versions as they are released on the "Acetates" bootleg. Just listended to it and they fit the description you gave. I could also hear someone say "Okay" clearly on "Blue Jay Way"
