There are many studio outtakes out there that are just the backing tracks. After a certain point, like maybe late 1964/early 1965?, they would start by recording the instruments first, and then later overdub the vocals and other stuff.

Just off the top of my head, I know I have several versions of Paperback Writer, Day Tripper, We Can Work It Out, Help, Yes It Is, I Feel Fine, Hello Goodbye, I Am The Walrus, and a few more.

I do have all 12 takes of Help!.
Takes 1-8 are instrumental, take 9 is the first with vocals.
Some early backing tracks also have "guide vocals" rough run-thrus of the lyrics, meant to be discarded/erased/recorded over if this were the "best" take of the backing.

Well, it makes me glad that I have most of this stuff on CD. To download it on my computer would kill my hard drive. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

I don't do downloads I had Imesh and Napster, but the stuff I really want to have I have already on bootlegs like the backing tracks for "help!" "Paperback" and "day tripper". It takes me to long to download.Somehow it doesn't work with me and my pc.Haven't tried WinMX tho.
