Now this is most interesting news :smile1:

Especially the donation to the people in Gaza is very special.

Cat Stevens (aka Yusuf Islam) has been recording George Harrison songs in London with bass player Klaus Voormann.

Voormann has long ties to The Beatles. The cover of their 1966 classic ‘Revolver’ is his artwork. He also designed the covers for the Anthology albums.

Klaus Voorman has played on solo albums for all four Beatles.

Yusuf and Klaus have recorded two of George’s old songs to help raise money for the people of Gaza.

The songs are ‘The Day The World Gets Round’, originally from George’s ‘Living In The Material World’, and the title track from the ‘All Things Must Pass’ album.

Both tracks will appear on Klaus’ forthcoming album, ‘A Sideman’s Journey’. At 70 years of age now, it will be Klaus’ first solo album.

Klaus and Yusuf recently completed the songs in a studio near Notting Hill in London. They feature Yusuf on vocals, 12-string, and acoustic guitar, Klaus Voormann on bass, Luke Potashnick on electric and acoustic guitars, Cassiano De Sa on electric guitar, Nikolaj Torp on piano/keyboards, and Kristoffer Soone on drums.

Proceeds from “The Day the World Gets ‘Round” will be donated to aid children and families in Gaza.

Sounds lovely indeed... although I think Brainwashed would have been a better lyrics choice. I don't want to appear to be the pessimistic one but I just honestly believe the Israel-Palestina war has no solution , unfortunately. None of the parts ( and I am obviously not talking aboout the civil population, but about the Governors) seem to have no interest whatsoever in reaching peace.

Some news about this project;

The pairing of Yusuf Islam (the former Cat Stevens) and Klaus Voormann (the creator of the "Revolver" album cover) on a cover of George Harrison's "The Day The World Gets Round" is available for download Monday (Jan. 26) through Islam's website.

All proceeds from the single will be donated to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and Save The Children. “This song represents for me the great spirit of George Harrison. I hope this song will help remind people of the immense legacy of love, peace and happiness we can share when we get round to looking at mankind’s futile wars and prejudices, and start to change our foolish ways," Islam says in a statement on the site.

The website Link is here and it has some additional words about how this project started.

And has pictures.

Irritating again is to find out the Dutch I-tunes does not have it yet .

I wish George and Yusuf (formerly Cat Stevens) could have played together. I think they would have been a good musical match.
