If it were possible to clone beef, pork, or chicken instead of killing animals to get it, would you have no problem eating it?

I would any day prefer animal meat to cloned one, for a moral reason. And the reason is that would there then be similar cannibal gourmet??

I still couldn't eat it if it were cloned. It's not really a choice for me. Animal meat makes me ill, which is why I had to become vegetarian. My stomach can't handle it.

You mean cannibals cloning people to eat?

I'm not sure I'm understanding you, are you asking about if it were, say, grown in a lab, a hunk of flesh with no head?
As cloning stands now, the cloned animal must be incubated in a regular animal of the same species. This question to me is the question, do animals who are cloned have souls? I would say they do have souls, as I believe every living creature has a soul. So, no I wouldn't eat it if it were cloned as it has to be now. And honestly? I can't think of anything LESS appetizing than a big slab of flesh in a pan in a lab, maturing enough to be eaten.

I mean muscle tissue cloned similar to the idea of cloning organs.

Ah, okay, gotcha. I would still say no for me personally. It's interesting you ask this question. I was thinking about the Schmoo the other day, an old comic strip character from a strip called Lil' Abner. Anyway, the Schmoo is an imaginary animal, that WANTS to be eaten, and can communicate that to humans. His meat also tastes like whatever it is you desire the most when you eat them. So I was wondering to myself, what if an animal could talk and ASKED to be eaten? Would I do it then?
Yeah, I got a little too much time on my hands!

Ech! No. However, if scientists could follow up on that Willie Wonka idea of putting out gum flavored meals, I would so be there! :wink3:

What if cloned meat tasted just like meat from a slaughter house?

Yeah, I got a little too much time on my hands!

Naw, you always come up with cool & interesting ways to think about things!

DISGUSTING.

I don't see the point, anyway. If people want to stop eating animals, they should just lern how to cook without it. It's not difficult. It's not like we need the meat.

I don't think I would. Sounds a bit gross to me.

Interesting question.

No.

No, no matter what part you are cloning, you are still cloning all the nutrients that go with it which does not satisfy my diet. Meat is still meat.

Yeah, I would. Maybe it's unpopular to enjoy the taste of meat, but I do. As it is I eat free-range meat.

This begs another question. If there were a way to grow ONLY skin and fur, would you wear a jacket made out of said fur?

Interesting question, VB!

No, I cannot even eat some things which are too close tasting to meat. Mind you, I can eat some things which are very close, but not all. Like I can eat vegan 'meatball' sandwiches and vegan chicken salad and even vegan shrimp salad which is completely undecernable from the actual thing and love and enjoy the flavor very much. But some pure things like more burger/sirloin tasting things sometimes too much!

I have grown to prefer the textures of vegan meat products, and so I prefer them by far now. And that is saying a lot because before I was vegan, when I was growing up, my Mom cooked a lot of meat and I loved her cooking.

Also I think I would not like the 'thought' of flesh, even if it was cloned and cruelty free.

So, no no and no, lol.
