I've just been listening to the oldies, but there's sooo much good music out there! And since this is a music topic, I'm going to move it to "not only a northern song".

tell you a fantastic band and thats king's x. they are described as sabbath/beatles[the catchy songs and harmonies]/hendrix/ and a hint of james brown.
they are a trio from texas, some of their stuff can be quite heavy, and some isnt'. they find it easy to write hooks, have great harmonies and musicianship.
they have been going since the late 80's. all thru their career they've always had great reviews in the magazines and have loads of famous musicians as fans. they've always been expected to be HUGE, however they have been difficult for people to categorize and market unfortunately.
yrs ago their main singer dug pinnick was invited to join deep purple when ian gillan left. here is the song dogman, forgive the hairstyles as its quite old!

its love[quieter with nice harmonies]:

the two best lps to listen to first would be 'faith, hope, love' and 'dogman'[this one is their heaviest, and with a great loud bass, often a 12 string].
