I saw this bootleg at ebay, the Twickenham Sessions 8 CD's Set.
What do you think of it? Is it good, is it a fair price?
Here's the link, and cheers mate.

Only, I'll definitely put in a bid (with use of my student loan.....god bless the British government), but only on your word......because - you are THE man.

Col, this is definitely a great set to have. I just got it a few months ago. The sound quality is excellent. But you must be a big Beatles fan to sit through some of this stuff. You're a pretty big fan, right? Yeah, you'll love it. Yellow Dog is supreme when it comes to bootlegs. There's a lot of material there, but buried in between are beautiful rehearsals and full versions of a billion songs. In the last few years, there were 2 other 8 CD sets of Get Back stuff. Both were totally awesome as well. This Yellow Dog release focuses just on the Twickenham Sessions, and the sound quality is the best it's ever been as well. Eventually, they're supposed to release another set from the Apple sessions. All in all, a good buy. I think I paid somewhere around $140/$150 for it, so with the shipping you're looking at just about the same price. But if people start bidding it up, don't bother...mate. I love that word. Let us know how things turn out.

Jerry, I've already e-mailed you about my newest bootleg, but I thought everyone else would like to know, too. The Ed Sullivan CD is GREAT! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif

Jerry,
Thanks for that, I would really, REALLY like to buy it, only - some fool has just made a bid, and I really can't afford it. Got to buy birthday presents soon, and then there's the anthology book. If nobody would have bid for this, and it was looking that bloody way, I would have made him an offer. But as it is, it's out of my league - I'm pretty annoyed http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/frown.gif
So, if any of you richer people out there want it, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!!

You say it's worth the money?
Okay, I'll make a bid for it. What the hell, the beatles stole my sanity, what can I say.

The son of a swine bidded a lot higher, so, everytime I made a bid, it was knocked down. I kept increasing my bid, like a madman, but it kept getting beat by his, until I was ready to make my final bid..........and I did.......but it was too late!
I'm kind of glad though, I didn't want to pay as much as it went for ($130.00), but I kept bidding because.....well, I was in a zone!
Anyway, maybe I'll get another chance soon, ay Jerry?

I cannot get a bootleg to save my life, can I!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have you noticed? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/frown.gif

Where did you get all of your boots, Jerry?

Jerry

I've been collecting them for over 10 years now. Before CDs were out, and even well after that, Beatles bootlegs were only "released" on LPs. Slowly they started to come out on CD. Now that's all they make, except for special occasions like the "Lost Lennon Tapes" or things like that.
Anyway, I can't remember who it was, but I was pointed in the direction of this swap meet that was held the first Sunday of every month. It was in the parking lot of Pasadena City College, which is basically just outside of Los Angeles. They had the usual junk - old chairs, rugs, baskets. But off to the side, they had this unbelievable section of just music. Guys selling old 78s, jazz LPs, new or used CDs. And a few of them were selling the almighty bootlegs. So that's where it all started. I got to know one of them in particular, and pretty soon I was just going over to his house whenever I needed a fix, I mean bootleg. The guy was pretty strange. Brett would sometimes go with me, so I'm sure he has some memories to share too. I still go out to the swap meet, but it's been "discovered" now, and it's crazy. The parking is out of control, and every other guy sells every bootleg of any group you can think of. I'm really only interested in "new" stuff, so I can skip a month or two and just catch up when I need to. Ok, that's enough for today's history lesson. Len-Mc, don't you wish you lived in Pasadena?http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif

Yeah, it would be nice to live there, it sounds sunny! You're lucky to have collected so many bootlegs, but, I suppose it's hard work, too.
Have you ever got into any trouble over a bootleg?

Bootlegs aren't illegal if you're just collecting them for your own use. At least that's how it is over here. But one time way back I decided to buy like 150 bootleg CDs off of this guy and sell them to a music store down the street. I made a quick buck, but I would never do it again. I think the fine for selling each bootleg is like $50,000 or something like that.

That's steep!
I think it's illegal here, too...of course it is. I guess you did well to avoid paying $50,000 for each bootleg. 150 CD;s, that would be. . . . a lot of dough http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif
Do all the bootlegs generally come from the studio engineers? How do did they get away with it?

There was a store in downtown Freehold near where I live called Abbey Road that sold Beatles and Springsteen bootlegs and memorabilia. Beatles cds were like $60 ouch! Legend has it that the guy used to take Springsteens's bootlegs off the racks whenever he was in town. Didn't work because I heard that Bruce had the place shut down because he's seriously against the sale of unauthorized music of his.

In the old days, bootlegs were really works of art. The LPs had beautiful artwork, detailed descriptions of the tracks, colored vinyl, etc. The early CDs were nice productions too, with big booklets inside. Now, most of them are just cheap CDR copies. It's kind of sad, but the demand is there for quick and cheap stuff.
