Ok, what get's your vote for the greatest bootleg of all time? Although I love them all, I'm leaning towards the original version of the Let It Be album, which was supposed to be called Get Back. It was, as you've probably already heard, "The Beatles As Nature Intended." It really is nice to hear just the four of them (with Billy Preston once in awhile) playing without overdubs. You can understand why Paul was so upset at Phil Spector and his "work" when the album was finally released.

I've only ever heard one bootleg. That one I won on here.
I can't seem to find any decent (or indecent) shops around here that sell them.

The 'Please Please Me' sessions.
It's good. . . it's just that I want to start collecting more now.

Ah I believe I have that one myself, I used to be heavy into collecting Beatles' boots a few years back. Excellent sound quality on those.

I once had a full copy of the San Francisco concert, but that and many more boots and original vinyl including 2 fan club Christmas disc's paid for my divorce many years ago. You've got to watch the boots of the Get Back Sessions as there was 2 versions circulating. One was the right channel and one was the left channel. If you had 2 turn tables--well you get the picture.

Regarding the Get Back Sessions: there are two distinct standout versions in my mind. One is a truly inspired, stripped down rendition of Don't Let Me Down, and the other is a truly magnificent version of The Long and Winding Road with just the Beatles playing. No distracting, sappy orchestra.
That had to be what really ticked Paul off

Thanks to Jerry and his contest, I'll have my first Beatle bootleg in a few days. I picked the rooftop concert and from what Jerry has described, it will be fantastic. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif
I can't wait for July to end so I can play the contest again. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

Yes, you can have a new bootleg each month for the rest of your life. Just alternate between you and your wife winning!
I need to find a wife. . .

I think I may have neglected to mention that I didn't actually become a Beatle fan until I met the hubster http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif I've absorbed quite a lot from books, movies, articles, etc. over the years, but I'll never be as quick as the Bearkat on answering far-out trivia! (At least on the Beatles--but I don't mind saying he doesn't dare play strip-Trivial Pursuit against me, LOL!!)
