Just read in The Beatles Diary Vol. 1 - The Beatles Years, by Barry Miles
March 1969 - the Apple press office announced that the Beatles now owned the film rights to "The Lord Of The Rings" and plans were on their way fort that to become the long overdue third Beatles movie.

I had read that somewhere as well. It was before I had ever read the book, and when I finally did read it, I tried to imagine Ringo as Sam, Paul as Frodo, etc. It made it very entertaining, I'll tell you that much.

I had never heard about that they were going to to Lord of the Rings. They would have to have many extras to do it, but they would find good people to play like Legolos, Strider/Aragorn, and Gimli(sp?). I wonder if they could actually make a movie like that, being so serious and all. Oh well, it would still make a good movie!

For those of you who have seen 'The Two Towers,' imagining John as Gollum is hilarious! graemlins/teeth1.gif

-lennon4<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">Actually, when Jim and I went to see it, I kept nudging him and whispering, "Oh, geez, thank GOD the Beatles didn't attempt this!" Actually, the idea of Paul (who can't act his way out of a paper bag -- sorry, all you Paulie gals, but...) playing Frodo is just as ludicrous... graemlins/images/icons/rolleyes.gif
Boy, am I GLAD they didn't touch this one with a ten-foot bargepole!

I'm rather glad the Beatles didn't attempt this movie, I would think that it would have MAJORLY spoiled their reputation as musicians, fancying themselves to be serious actors. They weren't horrible actors but the weren't of the caliber to tackle Tolkien. If you're going to do these books on screen you've got to do it well.

Boy, am I glad they didn't try to make the movies. Might've turned out to be as good a movie as the Frampton/Bee Gees attempt to do Sgt. Pepper. Yeech! graemlins/tongue5.gif

Great! Now all I can think about is the LotR characters speaking with heavy Liverpudlian accents. I'm imagining John running around talking about "master" and "my precious" while Paul and Ringo follow after him... graemlins/laugh3.gif I might have to go see The Two Towers again just to imagine the boys in those roles. And whatever other parts there are. graemlins/wink3.gif

Yeah, since I still haven't seen it, I'm definitely going to be hearing their voices in my head during parts of the movie. Ah well, if it gets boring at least the thought of them playing those characters will entertain me.

And BOY, does my wife have a HELL of a good left cross...
(joke)
I don't think Ye Editor was that disturbed by it in the end, as she did accept the story after all: http://www.rooftopsessions.com/OneRing.html
