In A Hard Day's Night, when Ringo is off by himself next to the lake, he's fiddling with this thing and for the life of me I can't figure out what it is. He has a string attached to this thing, which is on top of a bigger thing. He takes the string, backs away, and pulls. The thing falls off into the shallow water at the lake's edge. What is he doing? graemlins/thinker.gif

It's his camera. He's taking a photo of himself.

It's a camera. Ringo wanders off from the canteen (where Paul's grandfather tells him to get his nose out of his books and go live his life) with it. He's trying to take a picture of the river, and he puts the camera on top of a large boulder. When he snaps the shutter release (which would have been at the end of the string), it falls off the rock and into the river.

It's a great scene!!

On the DVD you can clearly see the lens facing Ringo. It is a great scene though.
