...ahem, anyway, I was wondering if you, my fellow Beatlepeople, could tell me what the best Beatles DVDs are; you know, the stuff that should be in every fan's collection. Won't you please, please help me? Thank you, girl(s) and boys!

Yay!! Good for you! My favourite DVD is "The First American Visit" if you can find it - I think it's out of print. It should be on ebay though. It's so great and shows the Beatles behind the scenes, being themselves!

At Liverpool Days, I picked up a VHS copy of "The Making Of AHDN" (best 5 bucks I've spent in a while!) and have watched it a few times since. It's enjoyable and informative with interviews from Norm & Vic Spinetti. And it's hosted by Phil Collins. It's a bit like the extra footage in the recent AHDN re-release, but IMO is better. I know it's also on DVD because Dav-here told me he had it on DVD. He also told me to grab it since it too is out of print. Dave is my Beatle memorabilia guru. Aren't ya, Dave? images/icons/grin.gif
BTW, don't waste your money on Giuliano's "Beatle Celebration". It's a piece of doo-doo that I've only watched once..well 1/2, really.
DO, of course, get AHDN, MMT, YS and Help!, if you can get it. My search continues for a Help! DVD. graemlins/help.gif

Definitely buy AHDN, Help, MMT and Yellow Sub if you can find them. AHDN is easy to find for the most part--the other 3, as far as I know, are out of print (glad I bought them when I did!).

The one Hippie found with the Shakespeare skit is called "Fun With The Fab Four" and it's a double-sided DVD with "The Beatles Unauthorized" on the other side. You should be able to find that one pretty easily -- and it is worth it! Lots of interesting footage -- the "Beatles Unauthorized" has a VERY interesting unedited and unexpurgated press conference from 1966 on it, and it is fascinating to see them answering the questions...the members of the press ask the most stupid stuff, but the fans who were allowed in ask really insightful questions...

I wanted to thank all of you who responded to this post. My DVD player is now up and running, and my first purchase was the collector's edition of AHDN! Thanks for your suggestions; I look forward to building my Beatles DVD collection in '03! graemlins/dance.gif

A Hard Day's Night on DVD is a must. Ultimate movie experience. Maybe Help too. And those Ed Sullivan shows, I'm sure those would be good.

Of the 5 original films, only AHDN and Yellow Sub are still in print. But you can find the others pretty easily online (Ebay is your best bet)! I definitely recommend "HELP!", graemlins/teeth1.gif and also "The First U.S. Visit," if you can find it. Personally, I'm anxiously awaiting the DVD release of Anthology. graemlins/smile1.gif
