I'm sure many of my fellow Beatlelinkers saw Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers perform at the Superbowl. I for one think that they were at the top of their game. They gave us four great songs, tho everybody that I know wanted to hear the 'roll another joint' song.
It fired me up because last week I purchased two tickets to see them perform at Darien Lake in June. I have been a Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers fan for twenty five years, but never got to see them perform live. An added plus for the concert is that the great Stevie Winwood, whom I have never seen live, will be the 'opening act'. The last time that I got to see two DESERVING R&R HOFers on the same night was John Mellencamp and John Fogerty. OK! nitpickers, Mellencamp hasn't been inducted yet.
Other times that I was lucky enough to see two R&R HOFers on the same night was.....The Everly Brothers - Simon & Garfunkel......Jerry Lee Lewis - Little Richard........Fats Domino - Chuck Berry.

I loved it. It was the highlight of the Superbowl for me, since I'm not a big football fan, and the half-time show is what I look forward to the most. I thought they were GREAT!! I've always loved Tom Petty.

They were great! I was really happy that they played entire songs instead of medleys like some artists have done.
I also really liked Jordan Sparks' version of The Star Spangled Banner.

I loved it too. I loved it so much that I went and got a Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers cd today, which I've been wanting to do for a long time anyway.

I also want to say that I was drooling over the Rickenbacker guitar that Tom Petty was playing. If I were to win the lottery, that would be the first thing I would buy.

The stage was really cool!

Although it's probably bigger than my whole apartment.

Isn't Mike Campbell one of the greatest living guitar players? All week I had been telling my friends to pay attention to Mikes playing....and he didn't let me down!

I liked the guitar moving toward the heart. That was cool.
