In the new simpsons halloween episode, on the door of the opium den there is a sign that says "Happiness is a warm poppy"
And in a episode of malcolm in the middle, Hal, the father, is running away from cops etc, Hal is on the phone talking to his wife while fleeing, and tries not to describe what is going on, so he says "Oh you know theyre haveing a A to Z beatles special on the radio, but you know what, quite frankly i cant think of any beatle song that starts with Z!"
Love that show!

Earlier this evening, my daughters were watching the cartoon series "Teen Titans". The bad guy was called Mad Mod and he turned the city into an English town. The backgrounds all looked similar to those used in "Yellow Submarine". At one point, Mad Mod even appeared to have a body like the Cheif Blue Meanie.

Wow there are a ton here! I don't have the time to read them all at the moment, so I don't know if anyone already did this. Does anyone remember "Honey I Shrunk the Kids the TV Show"?
The Episode "Honey, Name that Tune" was loosly based around the Beatles appearence on Ed Sullivan.
This Synopsis is from TV Tome:
"Wayne goes back in time to prove to his family that the Bopkas and the song he likes really do exists. Well there he finds out that they are russian spies with plans to take over the world by overthrowing parents. The family goes back in time to find and help him stop them."
If I remember correctly the Bopkas sounded a lot like the Beatles, and the song was kinda catchy.

theres 5 (if i remember correctly) episodes of The Simpsons that are Beatle related.
1. the one where George Harrison guest stars (Homer, Barney, Chief Wigggum and Apu used to be in a group called the BeSharps. it's a parody of The Beatles).
2. Ringo Guest Stars (Marge wrote him a fan letter back in the day and he replies or something).
3. Paul and Linda Guest stars (one of the first episodes where Lisa becomes vegan).
4. Bart and Milhouse break into Flanders house and discovers Ned's Beatle room with tons of memorabilia.
5. the Olimpics decide to go to Springfield and on the visit over there, Bart does a comedy bit where he makes fun of the other countries and they leave and punish him to do some community servece at the old folkes home and he decides to take them out of there and they have a little musical number where some band plays Can't Buy Me Love and the old peole are running around the field like The Beatles did in A Hard Day's Night.

Today's episode (that my son is watching as I type this) is called "A World Without Zero." Although I never cared for "Full House" and I can't stand cushion face Candace Cameron's lumpy cushion face, there were two episodes that mention the Beatles.
In 1988's episode #23, Cutting it Close when Stephanie cuts her uncle's hair, and he later breaks his arm, his band does a rather half-assed rendition of "Help!"
In 1990's episode #98, Danny, the Full House patriarch laments that "it's time for the Beatles song, 'Help!' "

1965 on The Flintstones had a group called "The 4 Insects" who sang the one-line song, "She said yeah, yeah, yeah, she said yeah, yeah, yeah, she said yeah, yeah, yeah, YEAH!" Fred's mountain cousins come to visit for the world's fair and just can't stand the 4 insects, saying "bug music gives them the horrors." When the cousins wear out their welcome, the Flintstones and the Rubbles along with the Gruesomes don Beatle wigs and sing the 4 Insects' song. 4 long-haired guys who say yeah, yeah, yeah, YEAH - wonder where that idea came from?
1971-72 episode of The Partridge Family - Keith asks aspiring song-writer Danny, "And what did our Paul McCartney write today?"
1974 on All in the Family when Meathead invites his friend Stuart over to play chess and come on like two big intellectuals. Gloria said when the discussion of defining beauty came up, "When I was 14 years old, I thought the Beatles' hair was beautiful!"

What's the name of that film starring John Hurt that's about the Profumo affair? I think it might be called Scandal. But anyway, that has Twist and Shout in the soundtrack. Sorry if that's already been mentioned, but this thread is a little on the long side!!!
Watching Storymakers with my 2 year old daughter a few weeks ago, they had a story about a group of 4 beetles who were late for a gig as their VW Beetle, number plate reading 4FAB, was stuck in the mud!!! There were quite a few references to Beatles songs in it!!!
There's a scene in Apollo 13 where Tom Hanks' character is having a row with his daughter and you can see a Beatles poster on her bedroom wall....I think. Or did I dream that? Was it a poster or a song playing? I seem to recall the song was Jimi Hendrix!!!
Of course there's the famous ITV series, Heartbeat and The Royal. I've heard many a Beatles tune in those!!!!

In 1969 there was a soda commercial with animation lifted straight from Yellow Submarine. Paul's animated figure was in that commercial and he was drawn with light hair instead of his Beatle-correct dark brown.
It was obviously cribbed from the moive. This commercial is currently part of a display at a 60s exhibit at a local library.

There were many Beatles references in the show "Quantum Leap." There was one episode that took place on the day they came to America, involving a blind piano player...the Beatles were only tangentially in the story, though...
But the one episode I clearly remember that mentioned them was the one where Sam leaped back into his own life at age 16 and is having trouble preventing himself from telling everyone what he knows about the future...he was sitting on the porch with his little sister, and he sang "Imagine" for her -- several years before it was written! And then his sister says, "Well, Sam, if you know so much about what's gonna happen in the future, what's gonna happen to the Beatles? What's gonna happen to John, he's my favorite?" And Sam can't bring himself to tell her -- and Al, his holographic companion, just shakes his head and says, "No, Sam, you can't tell her..." Oh my God, made me CRY...

I've only had time to skim this thread, so I might have overlooked any previous mentions of these movies. But when the question about the Beatles in film was asked, two movies leapt to mind that I didn't see entered, when I though that people would have mentioned them before dissecting more obscure references in other works.
One is the 1979 Dick Clark-produced TV movie (released theatrically in the U.K.) called Birth of the Beatles (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078865/), which followed the band's early days leading up to their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. The film used Pete Best as an advisor.
The other is The Hours and Times (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104448/) (1991), a dramatization of Brian Epstein and John's "lost weekend." Ian Hart played John in this black & white film three years before he played him again in Backbeat.

There was an episode of "Absolutely Fabulous " where hippy mum Edwina has a flashback to the last time she was in Morrocco. In it her friend Patsy is dressed ala "Sgt Peppers" complete with mustache! "It fell off" Eddy tells her daughter Saffron.
Also in the original "Parent Trap" the " two" Haley Mills characters sing a song called "Let's Get Together" that has the now common "Yeah, Yeah Yeah" chorus! LOL Maybe it inspired "Come Together" ?... Just kidding !!!!!

Okay....sometimes on weekday mornings I watch some of the craft shows on HGTV, and this morning I was just watching (quite literally, the credits are rolling as I type) a show called "Simply Quilts," where they have quilters come on to demonstrate their techniques. Nothing special until the last five minutes of the show, when they show a quilt made by today's guest, a woman named Sue Nickels, that she called her "Rock and Roll Quilt," which she said was inspired by "images from Beatles music." (The quilt was gorgeous, too -- quilt blocks incorporating characters and imagery from various songs.) And then she went on to explain that because of this quilt, she and her sister (her co-crafter) were invited to teach their quilting technique in Liverpool, and they showed a pic of her and her sis at Penny Lane!!

I might've mentioned this before, but in the 1969 movie, "Last Summer" there's a Beatles reference. There's a scene where the three teenagers (Barbara Hershey, Richard Thomas, and Bruce Davison) are sitting on the beach at night and Bruce's character (Dan) is strumming a guitar. Barbara's character (Sandy) asked Dan, "Do you know Eleanor Rigby?" He didn't know it! And that song was only four years old then! Maybe he didn't know, but still, the way he acted, it was like he didn't even know what song she was talking about. Richard Thomas' character (Peter) didn't say anything because he was eating something.

I went and saw "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" last night and when Willy Wonka, Charlie, his grandpa, Mike Teavee, and his dad were in the TV room, Mike was transported into the TV and the Oompa-Loompas started to sing a song. The channels were flipping, and one of them had 4 Oompa-Loompas dressed up in the Sgt. Pepper's outfits and playing instruments. Never expected anything Beatle-y in that movie, although I must say, I enjoyed Johnny Depp's performance very much :wink1:
Also, I watched a little bit of "King of the Hill" last week. I don't watch that show and I have forgotten who the characters are. Please excuse my unfamiliarity with the characters. :P
This local music group was going to play at an illegally-opened casino, and they were planning what they were going to sing a few days before. Well, the dad's daughter (the blonde) started to be a little of an annoyance, even though she liked the group. The manager pulled her away from everyone and said "Hey, Yoko," and some other stuff, and when he was finished talking to her, she said "What's a Yoko?" I found that very funny.
I love finding Beatles references in TV shows and movies!

The Simpson's Episode called "Homer's Barbershop Quartet" is like one long Beatles reference. like, every thirty seconds. George harrison even guest starred on that one, and as the barbershop quartet did one last concert on the roof of Moe's Tavern, George goes past in his limo, rolls down the window and says "eh...it's been done"
Also, there's a Powerpuff girls episode (don't worry I don't actually watch that show...lol) called "Meet the Beat-Alls" where a group of evil villians team up and it's a huge parody of The Beatles, using a lot of Beatle lyrics the entire show.
And I saw about 20 minutes of a movie (I think it's called "Look Who's Talking" or something...I think it's a sequel...but anyhoo, the female lead (Kristie Alley) is talking about how she wishes she and her husband (John Travolta) could do really important things together and then it flashes to them dressed as John and Yoko, doing a Bed-In for Peace.
And a really small one: on the Family Guy Episode "To Live and Die in Dixie" Stewie (the baby) is playing the banjo (a song called "My Fat baby Loves to Eat") and at then end he screams "I've Got blisters on my fingers!"

Although I never cared for "Full House" and I can't stand cushion face Candace Cameron's lumpy cushion face and whinebag voice, there were a few episodes that mention the Beatles.
On Episode #131 of Full House, the Beatles are mentioned once.
Jesse and Joey think their new manager will fire them from the radio station and switch to a classical format. Jesse screams, "I grew up on this station! The Rolling Stones, the Beatles, the Who..."
During the final season of that inane show, 1994-95, Stephanie forms an all girl band called "Girl Talk." (A good name for a 1990s girl band). When their drummer gets a little too enthusiastic, quasi-Elvis Uncle Jesse (aka John Stamos) tells her to cool it with a, "Hey, Ringo!" prior to restraining her from banging on those drums.
In early 1970, a series of 2-commercials-lengthSchoolhouse Rock cartoons were showed as a way of imparting knowledge to kids watching television. The one about nouns is especially memorable - the girl who sings that says that "The Beatles, the Monkees and the Rolling Stones" are all nouns and the schematic drawing of the Beatles is pathetic. Still, it was delightful to have them mentioned - you can learn a lot from the Beatles!
The 1970-1974 sitcom The Partridge Family mentions the Beatles at least one episode. In one show, Keith (David Cassidy) says to Danny (Danny Bonaduce), "And what songs has our Paul McCartney written today?"
In one episode of The Brady Bunch, a Detective McCartney is called in. Wonder who was the source of inspiration for that name? :wink1:
On a 1968-69 Josie & the Pussycats, their bubble-headed drummer says in one episode, "Eat your heart out, Ringo!" And who could forget the Flintstones and the Four Insects at the World's Fair in the best episode of that classic 1965 cartoon?

I'm sure there's some sort of Beatles reference in South Park somewhere too. Also, what about Spinal Tap. They're not mentioned directly but there's a bit of a John-Paul-Yoko triangle going on.

Hola amigos:
In the episode of the VH1 channel “When Kiss Ruled the World” that was aired today at 5:00pm, Paul Stanley was talking about their first hits in the 70’s and how success was approaching fast that he felt at that moment like the Beatles. His words were: “Wao! We are like the Beatles, now!
Also in the same episode when Kiss wanted to make their film “Kiss and the Phantom” Paul Stanley said that they wanted the film to be a cross between “Star Wars” and “A Hard Day’s Night”. Unfortunately that Kiss’ film wasn’t a hit and they were embarrassed about that movie, Peter Criss said about that: “Well, you didn’t see John Lennon or Mick Jagger beating up Dracula”.

I must say, when I went to go see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, my face lit up and I auidbly gasped in delight at seeing the Sgt. Pepper Oompa Loompas. When I went to go see it again, I brought my John doll (because I'm weird like that) and my friends I went to see it with had a little Beatlegasm with me and John in the back of the theater.
And I don't know if this counts as a reference, but on the Comedy Central Roast of Pamela Anderson, there was a flash for a few seconds of Pam winning a Linda McCartney Memorial Award for her work with PETA, and Paul was at a podium looking jubilant for about a millisecond. I flipped out when I saw that. They're everywhere, I tells ya. Not that I'm complaining. :wink2:

Actually, it was Mike Nesmith throwing the dart.
Also, in another episode, Davy is carrying the Sgt. Pepper's album under his arm.

Here's another Beatles/Monkees connection. Does anyone remember a Pizza Hut Commercial a few years ago with Ringo as the spokesman? I think it was for stuffed-crust pizza. Ringo walks out and gives a little speech, then says, "Lads, the time has come...to eat our pizza crust first." And then, out come Micky, Peter, and Davy from the Monkees to help themselves to a slice! The commercial ends with a confused Ringo looking into the camera and saying, "Wrong lads."

In the episode of Gilmore Girls where Rory is getting ready to fill out her college applications there is a point in the show where Paris is freaking out about how the assembly isn't going to go the way she planned, so she complains to Rory about it.
Paris then says something along the lines of "Do you know what that idiot man told me? He said, 'This isn't the Beatles at Shea Stadium, Ms. Geller." (It makes more sense if you watch the episode)
Also, in one episode of Rosanne, she is holding a bridal shower for her friend so they try and guess the song that was on the radio when she lost her virginity, and someone guesses "My Sweet Lord."

Speaking of SNL, there was a sketch from the '90s that parodied VH1's movie "Two of Us": Paul (?) and John (Jimmy Fallon?) open a fried chicken restaurant. Some jokes I remember:
John: Number nine, number nine, number nine . . . number ten, your order's ready.
John: Hey, Paul, Yoko's got some ideas for the fried chicken.
Yoko (Cheri O'Teri): Fried chicken teriyaki!
Paul: I'm sick of Yoko and all of her crazy ideas for the fried chicken! I'm gonna go off and become a vegetarian, man!
Announcer: VH1 presents "Fried Chicken Fields Forever" . . . Oh, you changed it? . . . VH1 presents "Sgt. Chicken's Lonely Fried Club" . . . Wow, that's even worse.
(I can't quite remember that one.)
Then there was this one with Paul and Linda, which I haven't been able to find. Is it on one of the "Best Of . . ." DVDs? I really want to see it!

A recent movie that mentions the Beatles is "Man of the Year". Near the end, Robin Williams is talking about fans going crazy over Elvis, The Beatles, and Mick Jagger.

There was a new episode of "Good Eats" last night on Food Network, entitled "Major Pepper". Well, in it Alton (the host), gets his information about pepper from a guy dressed in a Sgt. Pepper outfit, a Beatle haircut and Lennon glasses. While this guy, who introduces himself as "Sgt. Pepper", talks about pepper and its history and usefulness his dialogue is "peppered" with Beatle lyrics from the "Sgt. Pepper" album. I can't remember it all, but at the end of the show, Alton says he has to go because he needs to put money in his parking meter. Sgt. Pepper says if he's met Rita, who by the way, has nice sisters. He then says it's getting better all the time (or was that before the Rita dialogue? I can't remember).
There was another Beatles reference in a past episode of "Good Eats", "A Pie in Every Pocket". While Alton's giving the history of Pop Tarts, he's in a vintage ('60s) convertible, with a wig on, a mustache and a far-out outfit, and he mentions that Pop Tarts hit it big "by the time Sgt. Pepper hit the airwaves".
Also, two past episodes were entitled "Power to the Pilaf" and "Give Peas a Chance".
Can you tell I love this show? :smile1:

I saw a rerun of Scrubs, where Turk and Carla had their wedding. The band got sick so they asked the lawyer and his acapela group to sing. The guitars they used looked exactly like the Beatles' and they sung "Eight Days a Week".

Very trivial Beatles related incident in an old Peter Sellers movie called "El Bobo" when he's standing next to a post in a cafe with grafitti scribbled on it and the word BEATLES is written in white letters next to him. The movie came out in the mid-sixties before the Pink Panther movies.

I was just catching up on my "Adventures Of Brisco County Jr" DVDs when I caught a Beatles reference in the episode "Stagecoach". In it, Brisco and some other people are passengers on a stagecoach and one passenger is a professor played by Timothy Leary. He's an "herbalist", if you catch my drift. :smoking3:
Well, along the way, one passenger dies and the professor is asked to say a few words at the gravesite. He starts spouting Beatles lyrics! It's so funny! Here's what he says:
"When I find myself in times of trouble, I say, boy you gotta carry that weight. I am he - you are he - you are me - we are all together, speaking words of wisdom, come together right now. Amen."

I thought of two from Family Guy that hopefully havent been said yet:
Stewie: Fess up or I'll do to you what I did to John Lennon!
*flashback*
Stewie: Okay, Yoko, this is John. John, Yoko.
And from another episode when Stewie is playing with this country band and when they finish their song Stewie shouts "I got blisters on me fingers!"

Just remembered there have been quite a few Beatle references on the TV show "Gilmore girls"... some that come to mind are:
- various songs, also solo, played during the show
- titles of some episodes, e.g. "Let Me Hear Your Balalaikas Ringing Out", "Here Comes the *Son*", "P.S. I Lo..."
- plenty of spoken references, like...
"Ugh, Rory, my brain is full. It has reached capacity. It's Shea Stadium when the Beatles played. It's cramped and girls are screaming and I think George is fighting with Ringo."
Something about people evolving together like John & Yoko.
Reference to the fact that Paul & Linda barely spent a night apart during their marriage.
Reference to Pete getting kicked out.
...and there are plenty more which I can't think of right now.

I don't know if anybody's pointed this one out yet, but here goes:
On Lost, the character Charlie (who is a washed up one-hit-wonder rock star) has a tattoo on his left shoulder that reads "Living is easy with eyes closed." What's even better is the fact the tattoo is real. Dominic Monaghan is a huge Beatle fan. Just so happens, it works out really well for his character. :)

"Where's Huddles," an animated sitcom that ran for 10 weeks the summer of 1970 had one episode where the Beatles were mentioned.
This show, set in suburbia and featuring two couples where the husband is a pro football player for the Rhinos was a summer replacement show. Ed Huddles, the star and his Barney Rubble voiced and lookalike side kick (Mel Blanc did the Barney voice for this character while Jean Vander Pyl reprised her role as a Wilma-esque character in Marge Huddles and their daughter, Pom-Pom) want to break into show biz. Their friend, Freight Train sings a fun football song and Bubba suggests that he, Freight Train and Huddles call themselves the Beatles.

"Full House," a sickly, cloyingly falsely sweet stinker from 1987-95 had these Beatle references:
1. 1988 - John Stamos breaks his arm and later his band does a tired version of "Help!"
2. 1994 - Stephanie's band is just taking off and when the drummer gets too enthusiastic, John Stamos calls her Ringo.
3. 1994 - John Stamos mentions the Beatles when he tries to save a radio station he loves.

The 1972-73 animated sitcom, Wait Till Your Father Gets Home mentions the Beatles in the 1972 episode entitled "The Music Tycoon." Oldest son Chet manages a garage band and he says that's how the Beatles and the Stones started out.
In 1970, School House Rock mentions the Beatles twice on their animated commercial for nouns. A weird looking girl says when she puts money in the jukebox, she wants to hear the Beatles and the stones. Ghostly, poorly drawn images that don't in any way resemble the artists in question are drawn over the jukebox.

Okay here's one from a Futurama episode i saw yesterday, actually one I hadnt seen before:
Dr Zoidberg says something which the drummer thinks is a joke but Zoidberg says it isnt (you know, he does that rim shot). Then Zoidberg makes what he thinks is a joke and the drummer does nothing.
Zoidberg-No Ringo, THAT was the joke! Oh, it's like Showtime at the Apollo all over again.
And here's one that's not from a movie or tv show. It's actually from a book (but not one would you'd necessarily expect) but written by a guy who has a TV show, does that count? Anyway, it's from Stephen Colbert's I am America (and so can you!). He starts each chapter with a quote from somebody and the credit has a joke.
From the chapter on the Media-
"I read the news today, oh boy" -John Lennon, Liverpudlian flash-in-the-pan
From the chapter on race-
"Ebony and Ivory, live together in perfect harmony" -Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder, the 2 remaining Beatles
Anyway, I thought they were amusing.

LOL! I remember that! I sat there thinking, "Really? Jermaine Jackson as big as the Beatles? Oooookay."
I watched a Mystery Science Theater movie: Gamera vs. Guirdon. This movie is made in Japan. These boys get taken away by a spaceship. One of the boys had this little sister who tries to convince her mother of what happened to them. The mother scolds her for making up stories and she sulks. Joel(the host) then says, "I'll show you. When I grow up, I'm breaking up the Beatles."
