1/30/08, 2:32 pm EST
From Rolling Stone.com:

With all fears of the Writers Guild of America’s strike interfering with their show assuaged, the Grammys have added a fresh lot of performers that will take the stage at the February 10th awards ceremony. Alicia Keys, Feist and the casts of Beatles’ tributes Across the Universe and “The Beatles LOVE by Cirque de Soleil” are now on the bill, with Bonnie Raitt, Natalie Cole and Juanes added as presenters. The new class joins the previously announced Foo Fighters, Beyonce, Rihanna & the Time, and Mary J. Blige. On Monday, the WGA agreed to an interim deal with the Recording Academy, allowing the striking writers to participate in the event.

Huh; I don't usually watch the Grammys, but if LOVE'll be there, I just might tune in.

I saw a news report which says Ringo, Yoko and Olivia will attent the Grammy's

"There will be a strong Beatles presence at Sunday night's (February 10th) Grammy Awards. The special will feature a tribute featuring the cast of the recent Beatles-inspired movie Across The Universe performing "Let It Be," along with Cirque du Soleil performing along to the remix of the group's "A Day In The Life," as featured in the Las Vegas extravaganza The Beatles LOVE.

Both The Beatles LOVE and Across The Universe soundtracks are up against each other for the Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media.

Ken Ehrlich, who is the executive producer of the Grammy telecast, says that several special guests will be on hand for the show: ["Ringo (Starr) is coming, and Yoko (Ono) is coming and Olivia (Harrison) is coming. And I don't know whether or not Paul (McCartney) is coming. You know, those three are coming."]

According to fan reports, McCartney will not be attending the Grammys due to the start of his divorce hearings against estranged wife Heather Mills, which are due to begin next week in London's open court.

McCartney is up for three Grammys this year; Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for "Only Mama Knows", Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Dance Tonight", and Best Pop Vocal Album for Memory Almost Full.

The 50th annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live from the Staples Center on Sunday night (February 10th) by CBS, starting at 8 p.m.

some nice quotes from the 2008 Grammys

"You couldn't keep me from actually getting this myself — it's not the same when someone else gets this on your behalf." — Carrie Underwood, who raced onstage to accept her trophy for best female country vocal performance during the lightly attended non-televised segment of the Grammy Awards.

"I just got an award given to me by a Beatle. Have you had that happen yet, Kanye? Just kidding." — Vince Gill, accepting the award for best country album from Ringo Starr.

"I appreciate everything and I know you are really proud of me right now and I know you wouldn't want me to stop and you'd want me to be the No. 1 artist in the world. And Mamma, all I'm gonna do is keep making you proud." — Kanye West, speaking about his late mother as he accepted the award for rap album.

"It's a pity Amy isn't here, but oh well, God bless her." — Ringo Starr on Grammy winner Amy Winehouse, who couldn't obtain a visa in time to attend the show.

"As many of you know, I first started singing when Lincoln was president." — Cher, 61, as she introduced Beyonce and Tina Turner.

"Frank Sinatra looked good for 150, didn't he?"-- Prince, after Sinatra appeared in archival footage in a duet with Alicia Keys.

"I think she is a sexy young lady. I have kids as old as her, but I did enjoy it. That did not deter me from noticing at all." — Morris Day on Rihanna, after his band, The Time, performed a medley with the young R&B star.

"Together these four men made music that changed the history of our planet. Tonight we honor the power of the Beatles. The power they still create in our lives." — Tom Hanks, introducing a tribute to the Beatles.

"I think we all have to pay tribute to Ringo, here, and George, and Paul, who can't be with us, and of course, John. And, I guess we miss those guys a hell of a lot. They are the people who are behind this award." — Beatles producer George Martin, accepting the best compilation soundtrack album for "Love."

"I'm so glad Kanye (West) won everything because you know how cranky he gets when he loses." — Patti Austin, after it was revealed West had won three Grammys in the non-televised part of the awards show.

"It never gets old, believe me, it just never gets old." — Herbie Hancock, who has won 11 Grammys dating to 1983, accepting this year's award for contemporary jazz album for "River: The Joni Letters."

"Grammy's not the only one that's 50. I just turned 51 a few days ago and this is the best present I could have imagined." — Ashley Cleveland, accepting her award for rock or rap gospel album for "Before the Daylight's Shot."

"Where are those writers?" — Peter Frampton after stumbling through his teleprompter script.

"I am so nervous. All famous people around and it's like a one-shot deal so you've got to do it good." — Evelyne Lamontagne, who was part of Cirque du Soleil's "Love" tribute to the Beatles.

Beatles fan though I may be, my favorite bit was still Morris Day and the Time. I loved them back in the day.

Not to be crass, but did anyone else make note of the mother tributes? I haven't seen "Love" in person but the "A Day in the Life" sequence seemed to me to be such a powerful representation of Julia's influence and death, and then there was "Let It Be," and then Kanye West's tribute to his mother. It was almost too much for me to watch.

:laugh2: I can't stand Kanye West or his ego.
