This is a fun little thread idea I took from another forum. Hit that print screen button and show us your desktop.

Is it Beatley? Scenic? Cute kittens? Half-naked rock stars?(I'm looking at you GG.) Rabid squirrels? That boring Dell background that came with the thing when you purchased it in 1995?

Is it super neat and tidy? Is it buried in icons to the point we wonder how you get anything done? Let's see.

I don't know about Macs, but on Windows PCs there is a Print Screen button in the upper right part of the keyboard. If you press it, it may look like it does nothing, but it actually takes a snapshot of your screen. Just open whatever graphics program you use (like Photoshop, Windows Photo Editor, or scanner/digital camera software) and paste it in (for example in Windows Photo Editor you click Edit>Paste As New Image, and in Photoshop you have to create a new blank image with File>New then click Edit>Paste).

What's a theme? I mean, what things can be Beatlelized in a computer? I've got the desktop, the screensaver, the Winamp screen and a couple of small snippets of songs I use as sounds when Windows starts or closes. But if I could customize it more, I'd do it!

Oh, so that's a "theme"... I thought it might be a small .exe that made everything go Beatle! For example, I've seen that in Mozilla Firefox one can have cats all over the place, but I don't think the same can be done with the Beatles!

By the way, I forgot to mention that what I posted above was my current desktop. Now and then I use another image, for a change. Here it is:

wow, are we the only mac users here???

hit the command key, shift, 4 (you'll see the crosshairs). press the spacebar and a camera icon will show up. then just click your mouse anywhere. your image will show up on your desktop as a jpeg or pdf or however you've got it set in your preferences.

btw, cool desktops everyone, even for PC users :laugh5:

All this makes me think of a prank my husband played on one of his friends. You take a screen capture of the desktop, create a new folder in My Documents and move all of the icons into the folder and then hide the task bar.

It's those comp. sci. majors they live the crazy life at university.

I'd like to ask you a question. It's not exactly about desktops, since I've still got the one I posted above. Up to now I had always used Winamp to listen to music in the computer, but now I've installed iTunes, so I can listen to other people's music and they can listen to mine. I've kind of grown attached to it, so now I prefer to listen to music with it. The only drawback is that it looks very plain. Does anyone know whether it can be Beatle-customized? I had so many Winamp Beatle skins, but I haven't been able to find an iTunes one.

it started out as a vector illustration done by my highly talented friend... he then finessed it in a 3d program and yeah, photoshop assisted as well. pretty amazing, huh? i was ready to quit my design-for-print job when i first saw it! made me feel like a hacker!
