1 pal
2 ani
3 yoda
4 leia/luke
5 dooku
6 obiwan
7 maul
8 mace
9 qui gon

ani was potentially strongest, but it just so happened he never reached 1% of his potential, the only time the force was with him was when he threw pal into the abysse. It's officially known that as vader he was 80% power of pal. Lucas said that mace never bested pal, in the rots novelisation it says mace realised he was no match for the sith lord. in fact to put it short, lucas said pal was the strongest force user including eu and all. he was so strong , he could manipulate events, and he perfectly manipulated his rise to rulling everything. I said why its naive to think that mace beat him in another thread, and that he blew yoda away in the rots novelisation, it was made more even in film to make it dramatic. for me the key is when ani throws him. was he stunned, which i read in sw database, or he even expected it? in rotj he says "i wonder if your feelings are clear on this metter, lord vader?", i also read in an official source pal begun doubting ani in rotj. so, did he take him for granted, which implies there was no duel during few seconds that ani held him, or he tried to kill him, making it a "duel"?
well, vader being 80% answers.
this is all debatable, though.

It's hard to say whether Darth Maul was powerful, since his scenes were only five minutes. He had a cool sabor though.

i forget his name, but he is the sith master above anakin; yoda is up there as well.

Ani is the strongest but he turned to the dark side,Yoda is the wisest,so he is the powerful.

Ani/Darth ofcourse. Yes he turned to the darkside but he came back and destroyed the sith.

Ani is the strongest but he turned to the dark side,Yoda is the wisest,so he is the powerful.

but how come he lost to dokku first, hten, to obiwan, in ep4 obi just pulled his lightsaber up, cause guinnes didnt want to have part in sw any more, he didnt like sw, it was his idea thet obi gets killed, so, again ani didnt beat him, then, in ep5 notice how at the very end of the duel, luke hits him with a lightsaber in the shoulder, and it just bounces back, cause that part ot armour is made of durasteel, light saber would melt it, bit it would take time. btw light saber cant melt cortosis, its an ore. ok in ep5 ani was almost certainly toying with luke, but in ep6 luke got infurieted to the level that he nearly killed him, not only monstruosly defeated him, probably the most uneven duel in the entire saga. you could say vadr deliberately and gradually lost, in an attempt to lure him to the dark side, he was enraging him minutes before, after all. But its official that vader is 80% of pal's power, so he's less powerful than palpatine. And, of course yoda lost to palpatine, clearly in the novelisation of ep3, it was made more even in the film to make it more dramatic. Again, im not talking about wisdom, but shear power. Lucas said that pal, (from now on palpatine =pal, although he's nobody's pal, except him self's) is the most powerful force user in sw history. So, ani undisputedly lost to dooku and obiwan. its even suggested that when he was at his peak-ep3, if he confronted pal, pal would simply tear him appart.
the one who was the most in tune with the dark side of the force in the history of sw is pal. he's called "the blackhole in the force", and Lucas said that dark side is more powerful, in terms of shear power, and using the force more powerfully. the one who used the force most powerfully is pal.
as i said ani didnt even reach nowhere near his full potential, the force was against him all the way, till the very end, only in the end it was with him, when he threw pal.

i know whatyou mean, its brutally violent, mystical, i dont like it either, but have to admit that ian mcdiarmid's performance as palpatine/sidious is something ive never seen before, especially in revenge of the sith. he's a shakespearean actor, plays plays in theatres. And i have to admit im intrigued who's the most powerful, although one can easily conclude its palpatine, the key being when vader throws him into the abysse. ive never read that that happaned cause he's more powerful, i only read that he stunned emperor palpatine, who killed him in return turning down electricity on ani. so, he killed him in 5 secs, while before that he tormented luke for over a minute. So, it took him over a minute(its known that vader made his decision in literally the last moment, if he stayed passive for any longer, pal would kill luke) to kill luke, and 5 secs to kill vader, and yet vader is the strongest, and therefore stronger than luke. contradiction. but, he could've almost certainly killed luke in a second, he was just enraged by luke's refusal to turn to the dark side, and knowing pal's nature, he probably, well, actually certainly enjoyed in tormenting him before he meant to kill him. plus, ani was half-dead before he picked up pal already anyway, having been sliced up many times, the armour, etc.

I was a huge Star Wars fan. Until the crappy prequels. George Lucas messed with continuity and what made me like Star Wars in the first place. Jar Jar Binks was only the beginning. The Force is cause by some bacteria in your blood? Anakin was somehow myteriously concieved? Padme dies in childbirth, when it said in Return Of The Jedi, she remembered her biological mother. Anakin yelling "Yippee!"? Don't get me started on the new spruced up versions of the original trilogy. Han shot Greedo first!!!!!!!!!!! The Star Wars Holiday Special was another travesty.

Lately, I've been more of a Star Trek fan.

A guy I work with has a tshirt that says, "Han shot first". It made me crack up when he came to work wearing it.

While we're at "not being serious", I'll never forget what happened on a star wars forum i was a member of. I started the same topic, and the first response was "well, it seems you have crossed upon a very difficult question...", again, there was no answer there, either, but the thread was serious until this joker "wedgerocks" posted: "Wedge Antillies is the strongest!" I replied "Wedge! Are you insane?" wedge:"uhhh, kind of, why?". And i said "read what you posted!" he replied "yes, i am insane, are YOU insane?" After a while he sent me a pm "the strongest", he said "wedge antillies is the strongest!" I replied "wedge, i see you persist. who do you think you are, a superstar? Well, all right, you are. btw, wedge, are you insane?" he replied:"yeeeeessss, its coming to me now...here it is here it is ......INSAAAAAAAANE yes! you are agenius Balls! i am insaaaaaaane, whoah, baby, i am insane.

I liked it back then, but I changed my mind drastically, that is, as I liked it more than anything as a kid, and until around 2002, I started to see the light when I told an aquaintence of mine that I go to the cinema cause the sound is better, and screen is larger. He told me that I'm deluding my self, liking spectacles, and that nothing is real, that it's all inside of me. Then I just let go off being a materialist. Plus, I realised the story is just plain negative, conflicted, agressive, violent, way to intense (the key is to be mild, not intense). I was gradually changing my mind, and now it's 180 degrees from what it was when I was a kid.

Let me see if I understand. You don't like Star Wars because it's not real? As for the dark theme. To me it's good vs. evil with good overcoming the evil. Like in real life, we don't become stronger by avoiding conflict. It builds character.

youre right. but still i find it unpleasant to watch. there's a lot of suffering in it, i dare to say that ani, luke, and many others suffered terribly. i dont like suffering. you might say there's suffering in real life, as well. i dont think i suffer as much as those characters. This disscussion is becoming unpleasant for me, as well, so this is my last word on why i dont like it.

Han shot Greedo first!!!!!!!!!!!
Nor could we expect Greedo to have reached adulthood in his profession being that bad of a shot. Point blank range and you bank it off the wall 3 feet from his head?!!! It makes all the bad guys from the A-Team look like expert marksmen!

I went for yoda....when he was in his prime of course.

Ahh, to be 426 again.

That definatly made it more stupid. It was very awkward.

I always liked the sound of the Light sabor and the blasters.

I guess I have to provide some sort of proof for my claim. Once again, I don't like star wars, these are only two scenes I can stand. (Knowing he threw the fight against Mace)

btw, I'm not a satanist, I'm just against Lucas' stricteness and morality.

Let's see if anyone can play the devil LIKE THIS.

more proof, especially since that in the meantime i learned that's ABSOLUTELY UNQUESTIONABLE that pals big mistake was taking vader for granted. when vader picked him up, he was stunned and didn't even have time to react. he only turnded the lightning down on vader, instictively.

but i didnt even need to say this. lucas said that anakin was potentialy the most powerful, but not effectively. He said that effectively, be it lightning, lightsabering, moving things through the use of the force, mindreading, clouding judgement of other beings, manipulating, ingeniousness, it's ridiculous to compare anyone to palpatine.

Travesty, yes.

I think the movie goers are the most powerful. The stroke of a pen/keyboard and the strength of one's words are powerful sources of strength.

I admit I was not overly fond of "Star Wars" and couldn't get into any of the prequels.

im through with admiring ian.

and i dont understand most voting for yoda. all main characters were at their prime in ep3. pal beat yoda. from wookiepedia

during the duel yoda became to realise that its impossible to beat the dark lord in battle, and that another attempt would only result in failure.

from the film

'into refugee i must go. FAILED i have.

the only who might be more powerful is ani. lucas said that only he can kill pal. but pal is effectively the most powerful. think about it. hes the devil, and the devil is interested in space, time, energy, matter. god isnt. hes abstract.
