What did everyone else think of this film? I had a very bad reaction to it when I finally watched it, almost violent by the end of the movie, and I wondered if anyone else felt that way.

Tim, thanks for the response. I'm curious, though, what it was about the film that appealed to you.
I admit, I wasn't entirely clear about why I disliked it. I thought Lester's contention that the soldiers involved in some of the worst operations of World War II for the Allies (Dunkirk, Dieppe and Market Garden) were themselves culpable for many of the problems that were brought about by bad planning at the top, which was horribly unfair to the men who served. I came away from the film realizing just how much Richard Lester seemed to hate anyone in a uniform, and made me suspicious of the scenes in SUPERMAN and HELP! where he shows soldiers as bumblers.
Thanks in advance for the clarification, and sorry I wasn't entirely clear myself.

What Jim said. I didn't care too much for this movie and I didn't like the ending.

Then we will remember things we said today. Yeah.
