George and the grotty shirts or George v. Corporate Advertising. I just LOVE that scene and know it by heart!

Ringo and the kid who was deserting.

Ringo and the dart toss thing.

Ringo sulking before "And I Love Her."

The old dude spurring Ringo into action in the cafeteria and some guy in bandages pours ketchup on his arm.

John and his hilarious one liners, "she looks more like him than I do," and John's antics on the train "after all it's his train, isn't it, mister?" John was a panic.

The field scene with "Can't Buy Me Love."

Paul explaining the old man to his bandmates.

The police station with Ringo and Paul's "grandfather." That was so funny!

The car thief. He was funny too.

"I now declare this bridge open!" John.

I loved it when John has a chat with the old dude toward the end of the movie.

The trap door into the dance studio -- that's a classic!

Paul with the blow drier - ZAP!

The press conference is a classic. I love it!

I think the opening chase scene is hilarious, where George falls down and Ringo trips right over him.

Also, the entire press conference is classic. And I love the end, when they grab Ringo and carry him away. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/teeth1.gif

I love that little dance George does when they are on stage in the movie, that was too cute!
Speaking of AHDN--I was watching an old movie last night called The Three Lives Of Thomasina (it's an old Disney film about a cat), and I saw Paul's "granddad" in the vet's office scene! I find that clean little old man really funny too. I like the scene near the end when John is explaining why 'granddad' acts up so, it's adorable.

Yeah, that is cool.

I liked the part when the performer crosses out 10 and replaces it with 9 after the old dude accidentally wastes one of his birds. The look on his face was hilarious!

I loved the trap door scene when that old man entered the dance studio. That was very funny.

hey all:

i was just wondering something: I've had A Hard Day's Night on VHS for years. I want to know if I bought a faulty DVD because on the opening scene, when the boys are running from their fans, I hear the music (*wonderfully remastered*, isn't it??) but the girls screams that are supposed to accompany it. . . I can't hear them. I played my VHS version again just to make sure and yes-- you can hear the screams of the crowds along with the opening song. Is it just *my* DVD that doesn't have the screams or for some reason, did they take the screams off the soundtrack???

I love the little dance that George does during the concert while he's playing.

The boys looked FABULOUS in black and white film, especially George, he stands out the most.

I like the part right after they perform "I'm Happy Just to Dance With you" where the Oh-oh part is at the end, they start grinning and laughing, going "Oh-Oh.."

George and the tv producer's little argument

The madness on the field during Can't Buy Me Love

When they pester the old man on the train, going Hey Mister! Can we have our ball back?

The part where they split up on the train looking for Paul's grandfather, and George and Ringo stop at this woman's compartment. She invites him in but Ringo gets a case of cold feet, and waves her off politely. Ringo then walks away, and George winks at her as he passes by.

In the beginning, where J,G,and R are running from the fans, Ringo falls down, and George trips and falls over him.

"Shazam!"

"Oh,look he's reading the Queen. Thats supposed to be an injoke. What page are you up to?
Page 5."

Toward the end of the card game in the cage where Ringo goes "Its mine! Its all Mine!"
John says;"Now you can buy your happiness son."

Long live the Beatles!

Magill, I think you're right.

I had the sound turned down while I was watching it,(it was late at night) and I honestly thought john had said "Now you can buy your happiness son."

Another part I really liked was when they were in the room with Norm,Shake and the tailor(Doug Millings), and Norm yells at them for larking around.

Ringo(getting up):Gear, I'm up for a bit of work.
Normhttp://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/blush.gifh, God bless you Ringo.
Paulhttp://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/blush.gifh, Look. Its the teachers pet.
George:Crawler!
I don't quite remember what John says.
Ringohttp://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/blush.gifh, lay off!
John:Temper! Temper!

That and the scene in the makeup room are my two favorite scenes of the whole movie.

I love that scene too! I don't know why...but I just love that scene!

I like when John and the gang are running away from the cops at the end...and the run into the police station and John is out of breath and the policemen behind the desk is trying not to laugh...and then the Beatles start running off again...followed by the policemen and....then John comes running out last! LOL...long explanation I know but I love that part!

Glad you brought that up, Bita! Am I hallucinating? Everytime I watch that scene, it seems that John is the first and the last leaving the station! You could be hallucinating Magill, but that would mean that I am too! Which would explain a lot...or maybe John has a twin we don't know about! Or maybe John took a potty break and forgot his cue and came rushing back in the scene....it could be a number of things! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

Well, he did look really out of breath in that scene (no acting). I'll bet he went to that bench the sit down for a bit. They probably had to cut it at one point. I dunno, let's ask Dick Lester, shall we? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/wink3.gif

I think it's probably just a continuity error, actually -- there are a lot of those in AHDN if you look hard enough. For instance, when the train arrives and Norm rushes into the baggage car and tells them the station is "surging with girls," (oh, that reminds me of another fave bit -- "Please sir, can I have one to surge with, sir?" You better believe it, Lennon, you could have ME anytime you want! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/eyebrows.gif ), John is wearing a shirt and tie, and when they cut to the car pulling out, he's wearing a black turtleneck. Ditto when they leave the hotel room after Norm tells them to stay -- at the door, he's wearing a shirt and tie, and at the club, he's back in the black turtleneck.

The movie was made so quickly and on such a low budget, these kinds of things were just not important at the time!

LOL...Susan with your dirty, filthy, Eastern ways! Oops wrong movie!

But I see your point...OH yes John could surge with me as well, in fact if I was in the movie he'd never have left the train...http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif
Anyway, continuity errors it makes sense, I still think that part in the police station is hilarious...regardless!

Hey PaulLuver69,
Your site is fantastic! Especially the fanfiction section with the story "Coming Down Fast". Can't wait for more chapters!

As I was reading this post, I remembered a couple more scenes from AHDN that I really liked.

Ringo jumping on the tv guy for touching his drums.

And the scene before Paul's grandfather incites Ringo to go "parading", where Norm is trying to get one of them to babysit GrandDad, George plugs his ears, and when Ringo concedes into doing it, he mutters;"I'm a drummer, not a wet nurse."

Does Ringo really say, "I'm a drummer, not a wet nurse."? I thought he said something about a nun...I must go out and buy that new DVD to refresh my memory!

I don't know that I could choose just one favorite scene from the movie. I like the "Can't Buy Me Love" sequence in the field, the whole train scene, and the concert at the end, just to name a few. I watched AHDN for the first time this year in several years, and one really nice (but too short!) scene that I like is at the beginning, during the chase sequence, when there is a shot of John looking out a window. I've seen that picture on several web sites. I just think he looks incredibly handsome in that shot!

Also, this may not be my favorite part, but has anyone ever noticed that weird smile John gives at the end of the movie before says...."don't worry or you'll spurt" line(I probably worded it wrong...hey i just woke up!). Anyway, he has the most wacked out, fake smile on his face...and I love it! Ah, the little things...I tell ya.

Gosh... I have a spare second block at my high school and all us band geeks get together and watch DVD's in the music room... I've been meaning to bring AHDN but I'm afraid it might get ruined and that'd be a real shame!

My fave scenes are:

1) The press conference (Reporter: "How did you find America?" John: "Turn left at Greenland"... and Paul's standard response to every question "No, we're just good friends"... and just what is John's hobby??? Watch what he's writing... images/icons/wink.gif )

2) John in the bathtub! WHOO-EEE!

3) In the train (Old man: "...or I'll call the guard..." Paul: "Ah, but what? They don't take kindly to insults you know!" KILLER!)

4) The chase scene at the police station, when John runs out first and then he comes around the corner again behind all of the bobbies... I just noticed that yesterday when I watched it again!

5) The car thief - is that the same guy from Help! too??

6) The scene with John and the lady by the mirror when he says "She looks more like him than I do"... I never understood it!!!

7) George knocking over the amp, and John's funny faces when he's serenading Ringo during the If I Fell rehearsal.

My favorite scene of them singing is when they are playing cards and singing I Should Have Known Better in the back of the train...I love that scene...acting wise I like the beginning when paul has to tell everyone the old man is his granfather..."Who's that little old man" :-P
and I absoltutely melt when Paul goes over to talk to the girls and says, "I'd ask you myself only I'm shy" graemlins/inlove5.gif * I love that part images/icons/smile.gif

I love that scene too, but back just a few when Paul is talking to George and he says "5 bar gates and that type of stuff" (misquoted wrong, no doubt but bear with me please! images/icons/smile.gif )

I love that part...I think George is so cute there! And anywhere for the most part.

My favorite scenes:
- George's shaving scene w/ Shake
- The shirt test ("Grotty!, a drag!") graemlins/laugh2.gif
- "Happy just to dance..." when George shows his skills... graemlins/inlove7.gif
- The field, when they go goofing around, flying! (Poor Ringo on the ground, couldn't fly!)
- His Rickenbacker! (That guitar is one of the prettiest of his collection! Just love that red color on it!) ! graemlins/rocknroll1.gif

Hmm...what can I say that hasn't already been said?

Well, I love the opening scene, and I think John is hilarious.

Like when the dancers are rehearsing and John breaks out in a mock version of their routine.

And poor George knocking over the amp.

My friends and I quote that movie almost every day.

NORM: Lennon, what are you up to?
JOHN: She's gonna show me her stamp collection.
PAUL: So is mine.
GIRL: But...I haven't got any stamps!

Loves Rimshot Ringo!
Hello! I'm new to this Beatle Fab forum. Literally, my most favourite scene in AHDN is "If I Fell", in which Ringo plays an excellent Rimshot on the drums! For several weeks, I've looked on the Beatle tribute bands' Web sites, searching through their photo galleries for good-quality photos of Ringo doing the rimshot. I found quite several of these! Actually, I have a Windows Media movie clip of "If I Fell" on my PC. It's the best possible place to see the sulking drummer do the rim! How sweet! I hope to find more Rimshot Ringo photos in the future!

The entire movie is my fav "scene"- lol
But if I HAD to pick just one???
John and Millie in the backstage hall. SO like I imagine a conversation would be with him. Sly looks, unknown intimations, just a delightful, nonsensical mind game of a scene!
Millie: "I knew I could rely on you."
John: "Thanks..."
In the movie he ends up walking away. In my imagination something entirely different happens- LOL
