The whole "Hey Bulldog" sequence is great and also the "Eleanor Rigby" bit at the start, very bleak.

I love the Sea of Holes scene it's funky. Song wise I'd have to say "It's All too Much" is rather cool as well as the very end when the Beatles themselves appear. That is probably my ultimate favorite part.

I love the scene where George first appears.
When they open the door and you hear the opening to "Love You To" as the camera pans up a picture covered mountain to George standing there with the wind blowing through his hair. I wish it was really him. Gorgeous!

My favourite scenes - Only a Northern Song, Nowhere Man, When I'm Sixty-Four, Hey Bulldog, It's All Too Much.
Some of the jokes are great too.
"Look, a school of whales!"
"They look a bit old for school, don't they?"
"University then."
"University of W(h)ales."
"They look like dropouts to me."
"How was it Ringo?"
(Ringo pulling arrows out of himself) "'Arrowing!"
"I've got a hole in me pocket!"

When they wanted something like roadside assistance Ringo says, "we can't we're not Sub-scribers!"
sorry if this isn't right. I haven't watched this movie in a while.

Only a northern song, hey bulldog, lucy in the sky, I LOVE the part with all the doors, especially George's where they are playing "Love you to" and he's standing there on the mountain, the part at the end with the cartoons turning into the real Beatles, man, I just LOVE the whole thing! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

If anyone really wants to get into detail about the film, I highly reccomend INSIDE THE YELLOW SUBMARINE by Dr. Robert R. Hieronimus. The work he did on researching the story, getting all the contributors to comment about it, and making it a coherent narrative is amazing. Even if you're not a Beatles fan (not that there are too many non-fans here, admittedly...), as a work that disects a movie it's remarkably complete and detailed.
The book is available through amazon.com (http:\\www.amazon.com) or directly through the publisher, Krause Publications (http://www.krause.com). There is no better book out there about this movie.

thanks for the tip, jd. i heard about the book before and now i'll manage to buy it, although ordering something from amazon usually takes more than 3 months to get here.
-my favorite yellow submarine scene is when ringo and george are actually trying to figure a practical way to get inside the bubble and john is being all philosophical about it.
then paul says: "-i got a hole in me pocket!"

I love the whole thing, but I think my top 5 scenes are the Hey Bulldog Scene, the scene where the captain's in that big hall trying to find the Beatles, Only a Northern Song, when Ringo presses the button and falls out of the submarine, and when they become the real Beatles.
Actually, no, my favorite of favorite parts is when Old/Young Fred is in the Pier finding all the Beatles. Everything about that scene makes me laugh. I also love all the Blue Meanie scenes because they're so hilarious. I love it when they give the leader the nasty medicine, and he gets all hyped up. I also love it at the end when Jeremy turns him into a rosebush thing, and when he moans, "The Hills are alive," and Max says, "With the sound of music," and he kicks him up in the air.

In the Yellow Submarine, it's funny, but I noticed all the bad things kept happening to Ringo! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/laugh6.gif First when he told the policeman he was being followed by a yellow submarine, the policeman didn't believe him; then George stole his car, then he fell out of the submarine! After it was released, all these hordes of wretched kids would go up to Ringo and yell at him, "Why did you press that button??" Even in the movie Help! the whole bad part of the plot revolved around Ringo! What a clown. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/laugh2.gif

Forgive me if this question's been asked a million times before but, why didn't the fellas lend their voices to YS? Just something I always wondered. Anyone know the story behind that?

Originally they were against the idea since the animation team for the movie was the same team that did the Saturday morning cartoons. Shortly before the film was ready for release, the Beatles had seen parts of it and decided to lend their voices. The only bad thing about that was that they were too late to give the authorization of lending their voices to the film. So that's why it's not their real voices.
