I just came from my local library and they actually had all 10 VHS anthology tapes in! (Would you believe they didn't have a bag for me so I could carry them out?? The nerve! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/angry9.gif )Anyways, so I've been wanting to view these for so long now, and now that I actually have them all in my possesion, I must admit, I'm a little overwhelmed. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/crosseyed5.gif LOL!
I will definatly view them in order, but here's a question for those who've seen this.. Which tape is your favorite to watch, and why? Also, which is your LEAST favorite and why?

Your library had them?!? Where in NJ do you live? I may just have to drop by that library some time. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/wink3.gif
I've never seen the tapes, so I can't give you any suggestions, sorry! But I hope you enjoy them!

My library used to carry the videos. But I think too many people "borrowed" the videos permanently. The last time I went to take out a few of the videos they weren't there at all.

LOL @ Eastern Bird. I'm in Ocean County. Where in Jersey are you?
Speaking of Jersey, today at the Hilton in Atlantic City they're doing a Beatles Tribute show. I think it's called Walk Down Abbey Road, or something like that. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

#5 is my favorite because of the Shea Stadium concert, their meeting with Elvis, Rubber Soul and Revolver.
Speaking of the Shea Stadium concert, wouldn't it be cool if they'd re-release the film in IMAX format with digitally remastered suround sound? After all, there was a Rolling Stones concert film that was shown in IMAX that did pretty good business. I know I'd pay good money to see (and hear) that on the big, BIG screen!! I'm not sure who owns the rights to the film, and I klnow it will probably NEVER, EVER happen. But it's just a thought!
Whaddya think, gang??

Boy, A.C. seems to be the town to go for a Beatles fix, what with the Beatles Tribute show, and a Paul concert coming up! For once, I'm starting to wish I lived in South Jersey. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/wink3.gif

I love all the tapes but I like watching 4-5 the most. When I watch tape 7 I can't wait till the end to hear George's accoustic version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".(I also like the part about the Two Virgins album and Ringo's reaction to it.LOL) I watch tape 8 just to see the Something video.

I've only ever seen the first tapes of the Anthology set. They had it at the library where we used to live, and according to the rule you couldn't take more than 3 videos out at a time! We ended up moving away before I had a chance to see the rest, so I guess I'll have to console myself with the taped off the tv version til they release it again!

I live in Waltham, MA and luckily, my library has the whole set (8). I've rented 1-4 ($1 each) and then returned them and got 5-8.
Another library, one town over, in Newton also has them and they don't charge to rent videos, plus i can take all 8 out at once - which i've done!
I say the same thing every time i watch the set: imagine owning this!!
I believe Ringo is the one who is most emotional toward the end.
Watch for George playing his ukelele!!

Man! You are so lucky! I only have seen the
Anthology when it was on television!
Does anyone know where I can buy the set?
My favorites would be where they were talking about making Help!, when they met Elvis, cause they sounded about him like we do about them, and when they were on the Morecambe and Wise show ('Ello Bongo!).
The least favorite is the one toward the end, about the breakup. Thats the worst.

The concept's nice, but it doesn't seem likely for a few reasons:
* The Stone shot their IMAX film specifically on IMAX cameras, while the original Shea film would have to be remastered from the original stock for IMAX.
* Before they could take that step, the first step would be to make sure that the originals were in good condition from which they could make a transference. If the master isn't up to snuff, then there would be a poor transfer.
* Once the images are delt with, there's the whole matter of the sound. Not only would the audio have to be re-tracked (which from concert films from those days would be akin to reassembling Eutruscan pottery from dust), it would have to be re-mixed for the multi-speaker set found in most IMAX venues.
* Getting the parties at Apple (each individual Beatle or his estate) to agree on this would take a lot of doing, especially if it turned out that they don't have a 100% stake in the property, which might be the case. I'm not sure who owns it either, although I remember hearing that it served as an episode of SHINDIG the first few years of its life, which means cross ownership issues.
Still, while these are big hurdles, they're not impossible. We may well see it come to pass, especially if there's a new swell of interest in the Beatles (40th anniversary of America's introduction to them coming up in 2004, and there's also the Golden Years between 2012 and 2020). So it's still likely, even with the deck stacked.
