Another fellow Beatle fanatic I know, mentioned to me that HIWTW is supposed to
be out possibly in September on DVD--(though
I'm not 100% sure of that myself). But let's
hope it comes out then-- this film is indeed
John at his most quick witted I say!...

I've just found out that this film is at a nearby library...I've been trying to find it for awhile. I've heard mixed reviews when it's been discussed on the forum, But after anticipating how good it's going to be I hope it is, so I'll have to let you know!

How I won the war was a fun movie. I found mine on tape for about 9 dollars at a Suncoast.

I saw HIWTW last night, and I can certainly say I've never seen a movie like it! Micheal Crawford was quite funny as the overdramatic general, and John had his funny lines too! Seeing the scientist guy, and two old ladies at the beginning of HELP was also a laugh. I also thought it was quite a interesting concept to switch to black and white so that the movie looked like old newsreel footage.
But on the whole, I really didn't think it was the greatest movie. It had its funny moments, and the satirical approach to war stereotypes certainly came across, but I don't know, I just couldn't get into it some how!
I also thought I had read somewhere that John wrote a song for the movie, but there didn't seem to be anything resembling something he would write, does anyone know anything about this?

This is one I haven't seen in AGES! Whoa!
I guess I'm WAY overdue! It would be nice to have a new copy on video or DVD. Mine is a bootleg from about 20 years ago.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">I just saw a film called "The Knack...and how to get it" with Michael Crawford in it - it was hilarious, eccentric, off-the-wall, and it was directed by Richard Lester too (he uses the same mirror trick in "The Knack" as he used in the train on "A Hard Day's Night" which is cool!) Crawford is a very funny actor - just one other reason to see "How I Won The War". Just thought I'd point that out to anyone who hadn't seen HIWTW (like me!)
