Help! video question

Hi folks!

Does anyone here own a copy of the "HELP!" video with the bonus footage? Or better yet, do you have both the video and the DVD? I was wondering if the VHS and DVD versions contained different bonus footage.

I only have the DVD, and I was chatting with someone who owns the video. They mentioned 2 pictures they had seen in the video bonus footage that I can't seem to find in the DVD: one of Ringo milking a cow (a still frame), and one of Paul from the "exciting adventure on the floor" scene, taking a drag from the giant cigarette in the ashtray! They said the scene with Paul might have actually been during the movie, or a still frame included in the bonus footage.

I looked through all the bonus footage on the DVD, but I can't find either of these pictures anywhere. And Paul never tries to smoke the cigarette in the movie, either. If you have the video, do you remember seeing either of these? If so, I'm going to have to get my hands on that tape, too! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/smile1.gif

I bought that video for one of my friends. I never got to watch all of it with her though, I had to leave by the time it got past "Part three later that evening".

When I was deciding between buying the DVD or the video, I just assumed they would have the same bonus footage. I'm really surprised that they don't! Although, it's pretty clever if you think about it, because then suckers like me will be forced to get both! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/wink3.gif

Thanks for the help, everyone. When I get the tape, I'll do a comparison of the two. I have a feeling that most of the extras are the same - at least from the descriptions, they sound pretty similar.

I received my video today (the "Special Edition w/15 extra minutes) and unfortunately, there's no extra footage - only photo stills. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/frown.gif However, there are a TON of stills in the video that are not included in the DVD! The video has most of the extras the DVD has, but the extra group of stills is incredible - plenty of deleted scenes shots (I finally saw Ringo with the cow!) http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/teeth1.gif and behind-the-scenes photos.

I don't understand why those stills weren't included in the DVD release! And, the video has all of the other extras the DVD has (except subtitles & languages). The picture quality is terrific too, and I consider the DVD to be pretty poor in that respect. So if anyone's thinking of getting the DVD, I suggest you save a couple of bucks and get the "Special Edition" video instead. I guess my Help video is getting old, I had no idea there was a version with bonus footage! Maybe I should purchase this new edition of the video with the bonus footage, was it released just recently?

Actually, it was released back in 1995! The DVD came out in 1997, and that was the last time the movie was released. They are out of print now, but you might still be able to find it at a store, or on Ebay. The cover says "Special Edition" and "Over 15 minutes of bonus footage."

Well, the extra stills are cool but I do wish it had extra scenes. That's the only thing that would make me actively search out Help on VHS since I already have it on DVD.
