A friend of mine was telling me that she saw this movie on cable the other day (in australia) called Two of Us. It's this reunion b/t John and Paul in the mid seventies where Paul spends the weekend at a Yoko and Sean free Dakota.
Supposively the two fight, http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/hammer1.gif write songs, kiss http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/kiss3.gif (a must for any slash fan, muahaha, you know who you are) and other stuff.
I think it was a vh1 movie, and Adian Quinn plays Paul (which I find hilarious)
Anywho, anyone seen it or know anything about it? I'm curious.

I don't recall the kissing, but yes I've seen that movie. I thought it was pretty good as far as those types of movies go.

Just saw it a couple of weeks ago here in Spain. I thought it was a curious film, even though the story itself is all 'invented'. But there are interesting scenes, as a walk disguised through Central Park, both of them playing the piano, arguing and even crying on the rooftop of the Dakota ('what about the night we cried?' from Here Today, anyone?). Intriguing.

http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/bigeyes1.gif There was kissing in that?!? I remember when it was on VH1 a few years back, but I missed it somehow (I think I was in college at the time, and we didn't have cable). It sounds interesting, though! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/smile1.gif

I've heard of that movie, but the guy playing John was ugly, so I didn't watch it. Why do they always have to find ugly people to play John?

That's one of the things I didn't like about this movie; I couldn't believe either actor was a Beatle and kept thinking to myself, "That's not John, that's not Paul...."
I don't recall any kissing in it either.

There was maybe one or two moments when they did something John or Paul would do when I thought 'Oh there he is' but as soon as it came it disappeared again. And as far as the look the Paul looked minorly like Paul and I didn't think the John looked alike.

i think there was a kind of playing around kiss in the elevator - it wasn't a romantic kiss. I actually liked the movie more than I thought I would. Neither of the actors were anything like John and Paul even though Aiden Quinn worked hard and got some of his mannerisms down.

Hmm, shows how important the kiss was to me I can't remember it at all. Not even a passing memory.

It's kind of cliche' but not all that bad for a tv movie. the actors don't look like them but that's OK. I wouldn't want them to because they're not them.
Worth a look.

They're in the elevator going to the rooftop of the Dakota. John keeps "nudging" Paul, Paul pretends to push him away, and John grabs him and kisses him. Paul slams him into the wall and says, "Is my name Brian?" and then something like "Just because Yoko's gone doesn't mean you can stop brushing your teeth."
There...a little light on the subject for those of you who can't jog their memories. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

That sounds vaguely familiar, very vaguely familiar. Maybe I had gone to the bathroom when that happened cause I really don't have much of a memory of that happening.

Main thing I remember about this movie was thinking "Hmmm...I think Paul McCartney is a good-looking guy and I think Aiden Quinn is a good-looking guy, but Aiden Quinn PLAYING Paul McCartney is NOT a good looking guy..."
It was an ok movie, but nothing to write home about, in my opinion.

i also couldn´t watch the film because they´re ugly.

I have the movie on video tape. I haven't watched in since I taped it. I think it's because it was really a made up story based on what the writer "wished" would've happened.
As for the kissing, I think the writer put in something that probably wasn't far off from the way John used to joke around about things.
Not a bad movie, but I would've written it differently. We all have our dreams as to what we wish would've happened! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/wink2.gif

That's actually not so far off the mark for a guess of their intent, because the film was originally an AltHis project!
According to the initial production announcement that was picked up by VARIETY in 1998, the film was originally going to focus on John and Paul going down to 30 Roc right after Lorne Michaels offered the Beatles the check for a reunion, and then follow what resulted after they appeared on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE together. Obviously, between prepro and shooting the script had a major revision. Either the Dark Lords of Viacom nixed it because they just couldn't hack the original concept, or the producers were so fearful of dealing with Sir Paul and Yoko that they didn't want another front opened against them by NBC, the Radner and Belushi estates, and all other likely parties.
(All things considered, I have little faith in the production company behind the film. These folks were the only made-for-TV producers doing Toronto fill-ins for New York that managed to have ALL of their shots look nothing like New York.)
As for the casting, I couldn't buy Jared Martin as John even on a good day, and the way he looked in the film it sure wasn't. My God, he looked a lot better doing WAR OF THE WORLDS in 1989; what happened?
As for my thoughts on this silly, disappointing, futile waste of money and two hours... well, who am I to say something if I can't say something nice? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/devil9.gif

I saw it;the only parts I found believable were the rooftop scene and the end when John is sitting huddled on the floor talking to Yoko on the phone. The way the guys looked AND sounded ruined it for me. I tried closing my eyes and just listening to it, but they didn't sound right at all either, so that was no good. It was a nice story, though. It would have made a better book than it did a movie."John" looked VAGUELY Lennonesque when they hit the streets in disguise.

There are only slight times when I could see a vague Lennon. One was a sort of far away shot when John's leaning on the piano and Paul's playing it. That's about it, I think.
Also...I thought the guy's name was Jared Harris...does he use different names?

I saw that movie, and recorded it while watching it, I love that movie. Jared Harris played a good Lennon, but during the whole movie, I kept on critizing Jared's jaw line, and how little his face is, lol, because John has sort of a long face ya know? and I also started really critizing Aidan Quinn, lol, because his accent wasn't right, and paul was never that fat, etc, lol
my mom watched it with me and told me to literally SHUTUP, lol. But when it got to the elevator scene and "John" leapt at "Paul" and kissed him on the mouth, I kinda shrieked and laughed and then gasped, all into one emotion thing, lol, my mom was like "holy sh--!* and covered her mouth, and dad was like "What the HELL are you watching???!" LOL http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/laugh2.gif
All in all....IMHO, great movie http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif
