Cook the bird--I love turkey!

Yes, my poems are getting lamer all the time.
Never you mind that, tell us how you plan to
spend Thanksgiving, and what are YOU thankful
for? I mean, besides for not being a turkey this week.
I'm thankful for my friends and family, even the
naughty ones, a safe home, a job, and my health.
Not to mention buddies and pals at Beatlelinks. http://www.vpsingles.com/pics/pilgrim.gif

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American friends! (Nice poem, GG)!!

(Here is some Tofurky for those who do not eat turkey)!
I wish that they celebrated Thanksgiving in France; not that they would, it was a holiday invented by those who left the Old World for New Lands. I really missed Thanksgiving this year (Canadian Thanksgiving is in October) it is one of my favourite holidays. I miss my pumpkin pie!
Enjoy your football, guys! :teeth1:

GG, I know as a child of older parents you can relate...the thing I think I'm most grateful for is that at my age, my parents (who were in their 40's when I was born( are still around, kicking and living on their own and doing great. My mom, particularly, is a powerhouse. LOL
I'm also thankful for my friends, who are, without doubt, THE coolest people ever (this does include all of you). And ALL of our in-jokes. :wink1:
I'll be making a huge pan of veggie lasagna (sorry, my vegan friends, it will contain lots and lots and LOTS of cheese) and a fancy dessert and quaffing a bottle of nice red wine. And quite possibly watching "Help!" Oh yeah, that's another thing I'm thankful for. :wink1:

Well I'm gonna put down what I said at this other forum I'm at (Pixar Planet) when they asked this question:
I loooove Thanksgiving too! We are staying home this year and my mother's making the dinner (with me assisting, i assume) with just my parents and brother. Normally my aunt & uncle, grandma, and cousins would be coming but they are having dinner at my cousin's other grandparents house (as in, the ones I'm not related to) because they're moving and want to have Thanksgiving there for the last time.
As for what usually goes on, I actually do go to church with my mom that morning. I dont have to, but I like to. I enjoy holiday services. Then once I come back I watch the Macy's parade. After that the football goes on and stays on till kingdom come. To my brother it's not Thanksgiving, it's Dallas Cowboys Day. So he rushes through dinner so he can go and watch the game, lol! We dont usually have turkey either. Why? because my family prefers chicken. I honestly dont taste a difference and like em both. A few times though, we've had turkey and chicken, which has been great. Plus my mom makes 2 pumpkin pies (i've tried to get her to make more pies, since I loooove pumpkin pie, but that hasnt worked, lol!).
As for the weekend, we always end up doing something. This year we're going down to Wheeling, West Virginia to see the Xmas lights and see what has changed since the last time we were there. And also since I work retail, that means working! Luckily my boss was nice and gave me Friday off, but I have to be there on Saturday and Sunday.
What I'm thankful for? The norm, family, friends, a nice house, all my stuff, beatles, pixar....

Thanksgiving at our house will be a quiet affair, but I hope
to see my "little" niece (age 22!) A large gathering of family
and a church service would be lovely, though. :smile1:
Yes, Rell, I'm thankful for every day I can spend with my
parents and do things with them. I hope all the older folks
in our lives continue doing well! :thumbu1:
On a lighter note, I'm thankful, too, that Britney Spears will be
off the streets, literally! I nominate her for First Runner Up for
Turkey of the Year. And to whom should the top prize go? :laugh5:

I am thankful for my family, though they don't always get things right, they keep trying out of love.
I am thankful for my close friends that have been supportive.
I am thankful to not be pushing daisies - though it is a funny show.
I am thankful that Madonna may soon hang it up, hopefully.
I am thankful for no more KISS goodbye tours... this year.
Women on beaches. :devious:
Lastly, Turduckins - you southerners really know how to cook - pumpkin pie, and Football on Turkey Day.

The guy who made the youtube video telling us to "LEAVE BRITNEY SPEARS ALONE!"?
That tofu turkey looks better than the one in Everybody Loves Raymond.

It's easy (and trendy) to mock America for various reasons (and I'm guilty of it sometimes too). But in days like these when you've got vote-grubbing, reactionary governments demonising immigrants, Thanksgiving is a good time to remember that America, for all its faults, is a country that was built on the toil, hard work and dreams of immigrants from all over the world and that is a good thing. That is something to be thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving! :wave1:

I'm thankful for so many things! Having a wonderful family tops the list. Having great friends is a close second. I thank God for all that I have and that I have all that I need.
